"Well screwthat," Gavin said, impatient and as thoroughly angry now as he had been before. "A man has to live by something, David, even if it is the stupidest freaking code of behavior ever invented. I don't think I could ever even stop; it'd be like asking you to stop acting like a friend- OH WAIT."
He glared down the ladder. "If you're going to shove me away, fine, but goddamit, you can't go around making suicide threats and expect me to just leave you alone! I mean be a crappy, far-too-reluctant knight and all, but I've never actually run away from a situation without trying to help and you can go stick your head into a vat of angry porcupines if you expect me to start now, you bastard."

David grimaced. He would not longer be able to do anything about not living. It would constitute as being a bad friend to Gavin. Groaning half in exasperation and half in pain, he slide his legs through the gap between two rungs and clung to the ladder, now sitting down.
"FINE! It's not like I can do anything about it now anyways. Screw off now. You helped!"
