Crovin followed quietly behind the librarian, and upon reaching the decrepit staircase he neither paused nor hesitated. When he stepped into the scroll room he allowed the scent of aged paper to fill his lungs and exhaled a soft sigh, a brief if pure smile passing across his lips. He always had loved that smell. His posture relaxed slightly now that he no longer needed to maintain a reproachful attitude toward that useless young man he'd met, still it was hard not to tense up when October de Lune offered to stay and help him. Of course it was an offer made purely to help, but for a man who spent most of his time amongst large groups where he could mingle with a nice solid barrier of informality, it was almost terrifying. Not to mention they'd be alone.
His eyes flickered across the walls of the room, an action that could be mistaken for searching, rather than an assurance that there was an exit. If only one.
"Ah yes, well. It is a brooch of sorts. Precious gems laid into finely crafted silver." He paused momentarily taking a breath, his mind racing to fabricate a story. "I took it from a dream long ago as repayment of a debt. It is fashioned to look like a unicorn." He remained relaxed and nonchalont quelling his inner emotions.

"Oh," she responded thoughtfully, her eyes widening. She glanced about the more or less disorganized room, trying not to seem dismayed. "I hope we find it, then."
She began her search at the desk. She'd noted the slight anxiety that had passed through his eyes when she'd offered to help, but polite or not, she wasn't sure she trusted him enough to leave him alone in the scroll room. She wondered why the servant had something that was precious enough that he'd go back in person to retrieve in the first place, but she assumed he wouldn't appreciate someone nosing into his business.

At her comment he grimaced before giving a soft chuckle. "As do I, Miss de Lune, as do I"
He began peering into the scroll slots pulling the parchment out gently and returning it when his searches yielded no results. He took a few moments to scan a few of the items he was moving, surprised at the volume of knowledge probably contained within this room.
"Some of these were written hundreds of years before I was born," he said quietly, pausing to blow a layer of dust off his recent find. "Vast amount of stored historical and social knowledge here."
His comments were filled with genuine surprise. He did of course read often, but he himself had never set foot inside the library, preferring to have texts brought to him.

"Oh, yes," she said softly, running tender fingers along the aged scrolls. She smiled fondly, and then remembered herself, all business again. "That's the Roman scrolls, right there," she informed him, gesturing to the stack he was perusing through. "It's really very fascinating. You're more than welcome to return to read some of them if...." She let the comment hang. He seemed a bit high and mighty for a quiet, dusty library.
"Perhaps it fell on the floor," she muttered absently, going to her knees. She pulled her hair over her shoulder, out of the way, tilting her head to look under the desk.

"Perhaps I will..." he said, purposefully leaving off as she had, turning with a smile to show he was joking in good nature. "I don't intend to come off as someone who might not come to a place such as this. I love libraries, I love the smell of aging books and parchment."
His gaze returned to the shelf as he absentmindedly returned the scroll he had been holding. "I'm just not one for interraction. I know of most everyone, faces, names, but its very rare to find someone who has spoken to me." He chuckled again, almost bitterly.
"And if they have, they wouldn't tell."

ooc: Mmm yes I suppose it should be found. Doesn't matter by whom although I guess watching Crovin get his panties in a twist at October holding it would be amsuing

She paused in her search, sitting upright to rest on the back of her heels. Her eyes narrowed as she studied him for a moment. Then, her brow smoothed and she smiled as if she was the sole discoverer of a long lost treasure.
"I love libraries as well, you might have guessed. And I'm talking with you now, Mr. Nox, and despite what you may think, you're not half bad at it. Maybe if you gave people the chance to interact with you, as you say, then your count would be a little higher." Her hands had been on her hips in a very matter-of-fact fashion, but quite suddenly they flew to her mouth and she gasped.
"Oh! I think I see it!" She scrambled as gracefully as she could to the corner of the window sill, which wasn't very, considering she was in a skirt. She pulled aside the drapes and there it was, nestled safely in the corner. She picked it up, rising to her feet and absently wiping dust off herself. She held it gingerly between her fingers. "Wow," she said breathlessly. "It's beautiful." She turned, beaming triumphantly, and walked over to Crovin, extending it to him in her palm. "I must say I'm very glad we found it. I would have hated for you to lose something like this."

ooc; I'll just post then, shall I? ---------------
Julien leaned on the doorframe of the scrollroom, trying to hide a rose behind his back and failing entirely because he had forgotten to remove the thorns and kept impaling his fingertips on them.
He admired the view before clearing his throat and trying to look sauve and debonair with a hand behind his back and a thorn in his thumb. "Octobair? Oh, sorry, Monsieur," he added, rather belatedly noticing Crovin.

Her unexpected outburst caused him to almost knock over an entire pile of scrolls he had been carefully shuffling through and watching her fling herself across the room was almost as frightening.
: Oh gods she's gone and found it: he thought, his insides twisting with anxiety. He tried to keep his face serene as she held it up and admired it, but before he could even step over and pilfer it back there was a knock.
The anxious Crovin turned even more flustered at the prospect of having two persons in the room with the brooch, but at least this new male seemed more preoccupied with the woman than the jobject she held.
"Yes well, I'll just take it and be on my way then," He said hurriedly, smiling and nodding at the new arrival. "I believe you have a visitor anyway."

"Julien!" she said, face glowing as if someone had turned on a lightswitch. Crovin temporarily brought her back to reality and she turned back to him, blinking once. "What? Oh yes, of course." She took the few extra steps over to him and, in her hurry, decided to just grab his wrist, placing the brooch in his hand herself and closing his fingers over it with her own. "You're welcome to come back any time," she told him with a quick nod. If she hadn't been so distracted by Julien's sudden appearance, she might have noticed the anxiety on Crovin's face, but as it was, she didn't spare him a second thought as she made her way to the door, reaching up to give Julien a quick kiss.
"What a pleasant surprise," she said.

Hunh. Well, that was weird.
However, October kissed him and Julien suddenly remembered that he had better things to do than wonder just why some random Nightmare (at least, so Julien assumed; Julien was about as oblivious as an amnesia patient most of the time) freaked out over October picking up a piece of jewelry.
"Allo," Julien said, kissing her back. "Am skipping rehearsal. Is very boring. You are not boring, so 'ere I am!" In Julien's mind, it had been logical.

Crovin was so trhilled to have the brooch back he didn't even think or care that he'd just been grabbed, nor really did anything said register. He held it up only once against the light and gave a smile before turning and inching his way past the happy couple. At least they were focused on each other and not him, couples were good in that way.
Slipping past he made his way down the creaking staircase thoughts wandering as he slipped the precious item into an inside jacket pocket.

She rolled her eyes, fighting back laughter. "Astounding logic, as always," she complimented with a bemused smile. "I..." she trailed off, watching over Julien's shoulder as Crovin descended down the stairs.
"That was really weird," she said, half to herself, half to Julien. She shrugged it off. "Anyway. Did you see Iseabail on your way up?"
