"A long time," he answered. His eyes misted over with thought. "I was born in Chimera, before the two realms were combined," he said. "The Isle of Morpheus has never known another king. But," His eyes refocused on her. "Maybe that's a good thing. The king is equally Dream, and equally Nightmare, and he is partial to Nightmares, but sympathetic to Dreams. Suppose you had a purely Nightmare ruler, or a pure Dream? And suppose they didn't like the other side, or they became corrupt?"

"Maybe it's not such a good thing to have a Monarchy at all. Forcing people who don't want to be Kings to be Kings and then throwing the rest of us in the complete power of that person."
Zizzy vaguely hoped she hadn't gone too far. Not because she was so worried about offending Armand's sensibility, but because she did enjoy talking with him, and that might've been impossible if she ended up infuriating her.

He laughed harshly, but the sound was lifeless and without true warmth. He ran a hand through his long hair, staring at the table. "How true," he replied. "I am forced to rule, and you are forced to be ruled. It's an unfair world that we live in."

Zizzy watched him worriedly for a moment. So bitter, she kept getting flashes of someone so bitter. It fascinated her. And for once, for someone, made her sympathetic. She reached out and took his wrist in her hand as she stood, pulling him up.
"I know how to have some fun in this unfair world." She commented lightly, not meaning anything insinuating by it at all. And he didn't seem the one to have his mind in the gutter anyways.
"Come with me?" she smiled coaxingly.

He glanced up in surprise as she took her wrist, feeling the very slight shock that tickled up his arm. He watched her with a mixture of curiosity and puzzlement. The words come with me gave him a funny feeling in his stomach. He paused a moment and then nodded, a vague shadow of a smile passing over his lips. "Okay."
