He frowned at her, sensing something, and truthfully, he felt the difference of arriving on such different terms too, but he didn't know what it was, or what to do about it.
"What's the matter?" he asked bluntly.

"I guess I'm worried nothing's going to change now. We're back where we started, and I---we, I guess---just went through all this...turmoil and what's different? You know? I don't know." She ran a nervous hand through her hair and rubbed the back of her neck.
"I want things to be different, but I don't see...how." He was Vince, he was a direct defiance to the maxim 'No man is an island.' Sure she was closer to him than anyone else, and she knew he loved her as much as he was able. But what was going to change?
"Are we just going to go back to our routine, like nothing happened?"

His frown deepened. "We're different," he said. He'd never felt more different in his life. He was, for better or worse, a different person than when he'd left here that morning. They were not, at least, back where they started.
But what was different?
"I don't know," he admitted. He was tired of being confused by this--- it irritated him. "You might have guessed, but I've never done this before."

She laughed a little at the whole situation, it was a touch ridiculous. But she supposed not for them. Vince was completely foreign to this and last time she had loved someone it hadn't turned out well at all. It wasn't like she didn't know what usually conspired after two people admitted they were in love with each other. But this wasn't some handsome hero from a novel. This was Vince.
Although something about Vince saying 'I've never done this before' melted her a little on the inside. She came up to him, wrapped her arms around his neck and hugged him. She placed a small kiss on his cheek as to not send him into anaphylactic shock again. "We'll figure it out."
They would, it would just take time, and some willingness to make themselves vulnerable to each other(THEIR STRONGPOINT, OBVIOUSLY).

He froze, caught between the soft, chaste touch and the warmth of her body against his, momentarily speechless. "Yes," he said. He shifted his gaze down to watch her for a moment. He brought a hand to her cheek, each movement slow and deliberate, warily almost, as if he were testing for waiting traps. His finger traced the length of her jaw and he turned her chin to a more agreeable angle. His eyes swept her face, pausing, the air pregnant with anticipation, before leaning down and touching his lips to hers, his eyes sinking closed.

She knew it was coming, she could see it, feel it, but still when he finally did kiss her it was a shock. Mary fought with herself to keep calm as to not scare him away, but she couldn't quite help some of her reaction. She deepened the kiss, pulled herself closer to him, but was proud of how slowly and deliberately she did it.
Part of her tensed, she could feel it in her shoulders, some mechanism in her developed by her time with Vince prepared her to be pushed away both physically and emotionally. But she didn't stop, why stop? At least she would know how far he would let her go.

He was surprised when the pressure deepened, felt himself going over the edge, but instead of pulling back, he dived, hands dropping to her waist to crush her to him as their kiss grew feverish and desperate.
It was like when he'd at last decided he wanted to kiss her, and wanted to mean it, he couldn't stop himself.

If the soft, chaste kiss he'd started out with had shocked her, this almost floored her. Legs, still only weeks used to walking again, felt like they might give way, and so she held onto him tighter. Thought escaped her, since part of her still couldn't believe it was Vince kissing her like this. But her mind didn't need to believe, she could feel it.
She'd never been this close to him, her body was pressed so completely to his she could feel the changing rhythm of his breath; he could probably feel her heart hammering against her chest.
Mary would never have guessed him even capable of this, but let go of her inhibition, kissing him with passion.

He pulled away reluctantly, though not far. He could still feel her ragged breathing against his lips. He swallowed thickly and pushed her hair back from her face. It scared him, a little, this total loss of control he felt.
He really liked kissing her, though.

Mary tried to regain control of her breathing, smiling at him with one corner of her mouth as he pulled away. She liked the feeling of his hands in her hair, she really liked being so close to him. She rested her head against his shoulder once again, her arms dropping from his neck to wrap loosely around his middle.
"Do you remember when that gargoyle came to the circus?" She whispered when she could manage a full sentence.

This moment felt rather disgustingly like something Simon or Illie would do, or even Jack and Pia on their better days. But, more disgusting was the fact that he didn't mind.
"....no?" he answered, frowning down at her. Gargoyle? Visitors were at best a rare occasion, and he tended to forget them, unless they refused to leave and he ended up falling in love with them.

She grinned and let go of him, pulling away. This was still Vince, he wouldn't of changed completely. By putting air between their bodies again, however, Mary was suddenly chilled. She wrapped her arms around herself.
"Well then you wouldn't get the joke." She remembered, how appalled she'd been at the suggestion they were lovers, how disgusted he had looked. She even remembered making some comment about his bandages. How things had changed since way back when.
"As long as the idea doesn't disgust you anymore." She told him the joke anyways and placed her hands on either side of his face, pulling his lips to hers once again, only briefly though. Mary still felt like she was testing the waters with him.

"No," he answered softly, even managing something like a smile. It didn't digust him.
A bit annoyed that she'd broken their contact, two bandages snaked out from his sleeves and secured her in place. "I suppose when you said you didn't want things to stay the same, you meant your old tent is, once again, not good enough."

Mary grinned up at him, loving the swoop in her stomach he made her feel. Loved that she could make him come the closest he ever did to smiling. And if he was suggesting what she thought he was suggesting then she wouldn't have been more sure of his love for her if he'd cut off his own arm.
Was Vince seriously and honestly inviting her to his tent? She could barely fully accept the fact that she was allowed to kiss him, that he'd kissed her and now this. He couldn't honestly mean it, the Main Tent was strictly off limits, even she'd only seen two of the rooms in the place.
"I..." Careful, she didn't want to make a fool of herself if she was misreading things, everything had been going so smoothly, surprisingly. "Yes." Let him chose what it means, if he's just offering a bigger tent or if he's honestly going to let me live with him.

"Typical," he said, watching her, enjoying the slight hesitation to her demeanor. "As you know, there's only one tent left better than the one you have..."
