He grinned again and set her down. Despite himself, he found he was taking a liking to Mercedes. "I'm Calcifer, by the way. I can't remember if we did introductions."
The nurse she'd called to came over, but in no rush. Apparently, the woman didn't like being ordered about like she was a waitress. She checked Mercedes over with a quick, insufficient (to Cal) look and shrugged. "The wait's about twenty minutes if you're conscious."

"Mercedes," she said, a twinge brusquely. "We didn't..." The nurse with the attitude came up to them then.
"If I'm still conscious?" Mercedes hissed, indignant. "Could you at least set my shoulder?" she added, almost pleading, as she gripped the dislocated appendage.

Cal didn't hide his nature for a second. He was frustrated and did not want to have to waste too much more time babysitting a cop he'd run over. Giving a particularly threatening look to the nurse, he spoke angrily, an ugly and somewhat frightening grating quality coming out in his voice.
"Tend to her. Now."
The nurse tried to shrug it off, roll her eyes, but her hands were shaking as she slipped a painkilling vial and touched the liquid inside to Mercedes' skin before quickly popping the shoulder back into place.
"How long was that wait again?"
"Five minutes." The Nurse said and hurried away.

Mercedes grinned. She probably didn't even realize it.
"Thanks," she said, feeling some of the anxiety ebb now that she knew she was going to be seen. And now that her arm wasn't dangling from it's socket. That helped too.
"I'd have done it myself, but I don't think I pass as very intimidating right now," she said, relaxing into her chair as the painkiller kicked in.

"I did run you over. I think I owe you some." He grinned back and waited with her until the nurse hurried out again and escorted them into an examination room.
"Hop up on the table." She told Mercedes. "Now, what happened?"
Cal moved out of the way, leaning against the wall near the door. He would slip out the moment the women's attention was elsewhere. The Copper could easily find a lift home.
