Marie crossed her arms as she was carried like a loaf of bread. When she was set down, she smoothed imaginary creases in the short slip, but at his suggestion she stopped, eyes gleaming. "I like ze sound of zat." She murmured and snapped her fingers. Almost immediately, the ghostly maid sprung from a nearby wall.
"Yes Mademoiselle?" "Fetch a basket, some bread, champagne, and zat brandy I 'aven't opened yet. Is zere any brie left?"
The maid nodded and vanished, returning only moments later with the basket. "Will you grab zat, Alexandair? Did you bring your bike?"

"Impressive," Alexander complimented. Her employees were clearly terrified of her to respond so readily. He took the basket and fixed her with a firm glare.
"No. I said no bikes while you're still recovering. We can take a carriage."

Marie put on her best pout, it didn't rival Genn's, but it was pretty damn good none the less. "But Alexandair, a carriage 'urts! I can feel ever leetle bump in ze road. A bike is much smoothair, much easier ride. We can go slow. Please?"
She would get her way, eventually, she was far too used to it.

"Oh, no you don't." He pushed her bottom lip back in with his thumb.
He placed the hand not holding the basket on his hip, mouth set into a hard line of stubbornness. “And you can’t feel the bumps on a bike? We’ll drive slow in the nice, cushioned carriage, and take the best roads.”

"Non, I cannot. You are saying your bike is not a smooth ride?" She tried the puppy-dog eyes next, wide and pleading. "A carriage moves wiz every dip in ze road, it does not 'ave shocks." Marie came to him, placed a hand on his forearm. "Si'vous-plait? Eet will be months before I can drive again." She even threw in a little sniffle.

Alexander grit his teeth, glancing down at the hand over his arm. "Fine," he gave in with a low growl, massaging his brow with one hand. "I swear to Morpheus if something happens, I won't even feel bad, I'll just say, I told you so."

Marie smiled broadly and lead them out the front door, down the steps. Slowly, of course, but the excitement of being on a bike again seemed to let her ignore some of the pain. "Nozzing will 'appen. You'll be careful wizz me, oui?"
She moved to his bike and stroked the seat almost lovingly, before oh-so-carefully sliding on, never mind the fact she should have taken into account the length of her slip before asking to go on the bike.

He followed after her, irritably wondering when he'd let himself get soft enough to be bullied around by snobby, aristo girls. A ride on his bike was hard to resist. That he understood. He watched her sit down and raised an eyebrow, jaw tensed. "Looks like you picked the wrong outfit for riding, cupcake."
He swung a leg over, careful not to hit her, and sat down in front. If she thought she was driving, she was going to be disappointed. He fished around for the helmet he never used and handed it to her.

"Eet's only a bit of thigh. You don't 'ave to look eef it bothairs you." She'd figured Alexander would be the last person to be a prude, but maybe that's what a Shepherdess girlfriend who probably thought it was sexy to show off an ankle did to a man.
Marie shook her head at the helmet, "Not unless you want my 'ead to fall off."

He sighed and put the helmet back. Difficult, as always. And he wasn't fond of the idea of starting another battle of will, probably because she'd win again.
He revved the engine and steered them, slowly, onto the street. He kept off the cobblestones, didn't make any sharp turns, and only picked up speed when they were on the smooth, uninhabitated roads of rural Dreamland.
He parked at the Meditation Glades, leaning his bike against a palm tree. He looked over his shoulder at Marie. "Anything broken?"

Marie unwrapped her arms from around him and pulled away from his back. "Non, I am fine." She said with a smile. It hadn't been half as fast and she'd been hoping for, but it was more than she'd had in a while so it would have to do. For now. "Who knew you even knew 'ow to be a safe drivair?" She waited for him to get off before doing the same and unstrapping the picnic basket.
"Do you zink our 'ammock is even still 'ere?"

He laughed shortly. "Not me."
He never cared to drive safe by himself, and he'd never had a passenger whose safety took priority over fun.
He followed after her, opening the lid on the picnic basket in her arms to check the endurance of the alcohol. "It better be..." he muttered.

"The booze survived, you leetle alcoholic."
She walked along the beach and smiled as the rock she'd been stranded on popped into view, and if that was the rock, then over here had to be the hammock. It showed no signs of use, and wasn't even that dirty for having been left on the beach. Still, she shook it out before stepping back. "You get in first." Dropping the picnic basket on the ground, she opened it and pulled out the champagne, tucked it in the crook of her arm and then the brandy.
"Which one?"

"I need it, so you don't seem so annoying," he replied breezily. He dropped into the hammock. It swung with his weight and he laced his hands behind is head. He tapped his tongue against the back of his teeth, eyeing the two bottles, trying to decide. "Both," he said at last, and patted the space next to him. "Come on. The netting is fine."

Marie dropped the champagne on his lap so she could have a more firm grip on the brandy and she eased herself into the hammock. Her head rested on his shoulder and she proffered him the bottle in her hand so he could open it.
"I would do eet, but my cast." It was a lot like the mood of that first time. She was a little tired, and he was very warm and soon she'd be buzzed from the alcohol. "Eef you find eet so 'ard to stand me, why do you keep coming around? Hmmm?"
