No, he wouldn't dream of calling himself an expert in children. In fact, the possibility of him inadvertantly making a mistake his son-to-be would suffer for weighed heavier than anything.
After a moment, he stole Zizzy's words as reply. "We'll manage. And he will be loved, that's what's important."
"He?" Jack asked.
"It's a boy."
"Oh." Jack didn't want to admit a feeling of excited warmth pricked him after that, but maybe it did.
Armand hadn't thought about marriage as of yet... well, of course he had, but not seriously, because it was such a huge step. One of the most important choices of his life. He had learned from his father and Simon... even Johnny, and eventually Vince, finding the right woman to support you through life could make or break you. Not that he doubted Zizzy was that woman, but.... marriage.
Armand glanced at Zizzy. "Do you want to get married?"

She'd thought about it, for sure. But this was the one thing she hadn't wanted. There was no joy on Armand's face as he asked her, there was no romance, or love or a story here she could tell their son. He was only offering because he felt trapped. Besides, she wasn't entirely sure she wanted to get married right now anyways. She wanted to spend the rest of her life with him, of that she was sure, but marriage seemed like such a grown-up, huge step. Although she supposed she was a bit past worrying about big steps.
Zizzy didn't want to fight in front of his parents, so she simply clenched her teeth a moment before shaking her head. Sure she was an open book Armand usually had less trouble reading than a fifty foot billboard, but maybe he'd let it go since they were with his mom and dad.
"Although that proposal makes it sound so tempting, no thanks." She glanced away, blue tinting her cheeks hesistantly, like it wasn't entirely sure if she was lying or not.

Pia’s lip curled in an expression of distaste. Everything here was wrong. This was notnotnot how her baby’s life should be going. Why did nothing ever happen like she wanted?
“Look,” she began in a tone that suggested finalization, “I am most displeased. I have not been this angry in I-don’t-know-how-long. But we’re not kicking you out. This is,” Pia paused to stifle a shudder, “your home. And I’m going to go now, before I maim something or someone.”

Jack thought of his own proposal to Pia. The first time, anyway. Of course, the first time.... there hadn't been a baby to conside. Thank Morpheus.
"Don't worry," he told Zizzy. "He'll get it right in a decade."
Armand gave him a pained look. He didn't know what to say. He loved Zizzy, and he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her, it was just.... in his mind, it had gone better than this.
Jack waited until Pia had left before looking at both his son, and his probably-future-daughter-in-law. "I think you want some time alone." He slid a sideways glance at the door. "I'm going to make sure the innocents are out of your mother's path."
"...Dad?" Armand asked hesitantly.
Jack paused.
"Are you mad?"
Jack eye's softened. "I'm.... disappointed, I suppose. And certainly not happy about it, but... I'm not mad. And I'm not condemning either of you."

Zizzy sat on the couch, propped her elbows on her knees and sunk her face into her hands all in slow, careful movements. The disappointment of his parents weighed heavily. It had been decades since she'd had any kind of authority figure in her life.
"You can't marry me. Not just because you don't want to---don't worry about that, I'm not sure I do anymore, either. Its just, I'm not....right."
Maybe for him. She was right for him, she loved him and they fit together, but she'd ignored the fact that he was more than just Armand. He was Crown Prince. One day he would be King, and she was not right for being a Queen, or a Princess. Just thinking about it made her want to laugh at herself.
