He wasn't going to stay, he didn't want to stay, he would miss her. Her icy expression strained hard, then cracked and her face fell. She looked him straight in the eye and took a deep breath. Why should she be so nervous anyways? If he didn't want to stay, that was his loss.
"Then don't go."

The admission took him a bit by surprise. When she'd first raised her head, eyes stony and cold, he'd expected a rebuttal for being too sentimental.
His eyes softened in return. "You want me to say," he said after a moment. And then, with a soft sigh, he cupped her face and kissed her.

Nodding slowly, she said "Yes, of cou--" But she was cut off, relaxing the moment his lips touched hers. Camilla didn't know if this meant he was going to stay, but she could hope. If it was still up in the air, she would hope he didn't in a moment. She pulled him closer and kissed him harder.
Following Cherry's advice for the second time that day, Camilla would attempt to give him a reason to stay. And hopefully it would be enough.

"Wait," he said as he pulled back, hands still on her face. He needed to say this while his mind was still in operable condition; which it wouldn't be if she kept kissing him like that. "I want to stay. I will stay. But I have to talk to Diaspro first... tell her I'm not coming back with them."

Camilla frowned at him, couldn't he just let them get the hint on their own? She didn't think Diaspro would just let him go, and her and James had a deeper tie to him than she did. And she wouldn't debase herself by fighting over him. "Alright." She put her hands over his and pulled them gently away, keeping one in her hold before poofing them back to his waiting accomplices.
Diaspro started a little, smiled, then frowned in a matter of seconds. "Where's all your stuff? We have to get moving."

"I'm going to stay with Camilla," he said, plainly and simply, before he could talk himself into a lengthy explanation that would embarrass them both.
Being a man a few words, that's all he said, though words like, 'I want to' and 'I'll still help both of you' and such kept running through his head. Truthfully, it felt weird to separate himself from Diaspro and James, and he definitely felt a bit guilty leaving James alone with Diaspro, and vice versa.

Diaspro's eyes flashed, her glare flicked to Camilla for a moment before fixing on Jasper. "No, you aren't." She replied simply, "We are a team..a--a family, you can't just ditch us because some...skank lets you share a bed. Don't be stupid."
Camilla balled her fists, her chin tilted up, but as offended as she was, she had to admit Diaspro had a point. How long had she and Jasper lived together, compared to how long he'd been with these two? Maybe she was doing the wrong thing, wanting him to stay. Maybe she was going to hurt him.

Well, that one stung a little. They were a family, and to be accused of segregation was a wounding accusation.
"I'm not ditching you," he said, a touch frostily, in Camilla's defense. "I had no intention of leaving D.E.N., unless you're going to kick me out. Devoting myself to a cause doesn't mean I have to lose myself in it. If I find someone I want to be with, I think I'm entitled to that happiness in my life."
He'd really stuck his foot in it if it turned out Diaspro was right, but... he trusted Camilla. And he knew he cared about her.

Diaspro snorted loudly, "Jasper, don't be foolish. Stay with us, she can move around in the blink of an eye, if you're that attached, she'll come around."
Camilla really didn't like being talked about like she wasn't standing right there. The only thing that kept her from hurting Diaspro was the impossibility of it. She didn't say anything though, this was Jasper's fight to fight, not hers. She didn't feel comfortable putting words in his mouth.

Jasper's mouth tightened. Getting called an idot was getting a little old.
"That isn't fair," he said, "to ask her to accomodate her--" He paused-- bad wording. After all, he was accomodating his lifestyle for her. Even if an apartment was a considerable step up than living on the run in a tent, Diaspro wouldn't see it like that. "I don't want to see if she'll come around, I want to be there for her to begin with.
"And," he continued, "since she can move around in the blink of an eye, I can be here with you when you need me."

Diaspro felt scared. These two boys were all she'd known for a very long time and she didn't want them to fall apart. "Jasper, please. We need you. Look at what just happened. How many times do you think she can risk breaking us out?"
Camilla began to feel worried. Jasper sounded so convinced and it was sweet and heart-warming but so did Diaspro and she had such good points and what if she swayed Jasper? Camilla tried to think of something to say, but mostly she felt the urge to grab him and poof before he could change his mind.

Diaspro had swayed him. He paused, eyes softening, and felt his first serious hesitation. Diaspro almost never said please-- but this was nothing to the genuine fear he saw pass through her eyes.
He suddenly had to suck in more air to feel like he was breathing properly. "But... I can't... I wan't..." He looked at Camilla for help.

Camilla smiled sadly at him. She wanted him to stay and she could probably reconvince him to come back with her, but that wasn't her place. She touched his cheek and sighed, "You could wish for their continued well-being, you could check up on them daily, but that isn't going to equal being here at the very moment in which they might need you. On the other hand, I..." need you too. Say it, just say it. Spit it out. Come onnnnnnnnn.
"...need you too. I'll go back and get your stuff. You can stay here." She charged forward like she hadn't said anything of note at all.

He almost missed it. In fact, she said it so soft, he might have imagined it to begin with. Offering to help him pack was sort of an odd follow up to admitting to needing him.
He grabbed her hand to keep her from poofing (without him, anyway), though he wasn't sure yet what he planned to say. He wasn't really a selfless person, so it wasn't so much about sacrificing what he wanted as it was abandoning a life and comadery he'd known for so long, and hadn't sought anything else.
He looked at Camilla. "I..." His head tilted, brows knit in a vaguely bewildered expression. "You don't need me," he said, more question than statement. What was she talking about? She was one of the strongest women he knew, and he'd given her... what? Nothing? As far as he knew, he hadn't supplied her with anything out of her reach.

She stared at him, a little hurt. She'd just admitted something huge for her, and he told her she was lying. "No, I guess you're right. I don't need you as much as they do." And she was strong, she'd been alone for centuries, she'd get over this and get accustomed to being alone again.
"Good for you, keeping your priorities straight. Now if you'll let go of my hand, I'll fetch your bags. I am, afterall, always at your service."
