"You're not fine," he said irritably. "And I'm not backing down on this."
He knelt by the couch to they were more eye-level. "One day, Camilla. You can't help anybody if you don't help yourself. I'm only asking you to actually give a damn about the woman I--" He sucked in a sharp breath, pressing his lips together. "One day. Don't make me wish for it."

Camilla was very curious to know what came at the end of that sentence he'd cut off. "The woman you what?" she asked, instead of addressing his worry-wart ways. But she didn't want him to wish for it, he might need that wish for something else and she would hate to be bound to relax if a real emergency occurred.
"Fine, one day, one day and then you let me work as hard as I clearly need to without a peep from you."

Ignoring her question, Jasper smiled triumphantly. “Good,” he said, and then mimicked zipping his lips closed.
"You're going to start by eating something. When you're full, you're going back to sleep." He placed one of her own jars of joy in her lap.

She stared at the jar and then at him for a long moment. She had worked hard for this Joy, it felt wrong to use it herself when she could still push another four, five days without eating. But Jasper was watching her expectantly and she had agreed. Her stomach grumbled loudly at the prospect, and she blushed. "Alright, alright."
Carefully unscrewing the top, she consumed the Joy slowly so her impoverished stomach didn't cramp. "I'm only going to nap, though, if you answer my question." He wasn't getting away that easy, and he was only increasing her curiosity by avoiding the subject.

He made sure she had consumed every last drop, then stood up, extending a hand to her. "Come on. You can sleep in my bed. It's more comfortable than the couch."
Only after did he catch the subtle implications of his offer, and then at once felt more stupid for assuming she would think anything along those lines, when in reality it was probably only him.
Leading her to his room, one brow arched in a look of innocence. "What question?"

Camilla had to admit, she felt markedly better having fed and rested, and knowing more rest was coming. But he was beginning to frustrate her. "Don't. You were about to say something and you cut yourself off. The woman you what?" She stopped to look around his room and smile. Truth be told, it would feel good to sleep with him again, just having that warm body next to hers was a simple joy she'd sorely missed.
"And will you nap with me?"

Not good. That one little question had sent warm spasms through his entire body. He moved himself right next to her and cupped her face in his hands.
"If you want me to..." he said softly. He leaned down until their foreheads touched. He closed his eyes. "You're the woman I.... love."

Camilla nodded and was about to insist that he did when he finished his sentence. Wh-what? That hadn't been what she'd expected, and it took her by surprise. She drew in a breath, the words had the oddest impact on her, not necessarily in a bad way. She herself had never been in love with a man before and he had been burned so badly by a woman she'd thought he wouldn't ever get over.
She knew love, she felt it in a platonic way for all her wards. But Jasper was different, she didn't love him because she was his Fairy Godmother, she loved him because he was himself. She tilted her head to catch his lips and kissed him thoroughly. "I--I love you."

He enjoyed the kiss for a moment, and then pulled away, studying her face, not sure if he believed her. "You don't have to say it just because I did," he said, while also desperately wishing for her to deny the suggestion. It seemed hard to believe she would love him-- he was surprised to discover he loved, after so short a time, with so little to base it on. But he had missed her every day she'd been gone. He thought about her constantly... and he recognized the feeling. It was just... unexpected.

"I haven't ever been in love before." She said frankly, "But I...miss you, a lot, when you're not around, and I got very jealous when I thought you'd been with Cherry, and I'm happier just being around you and..." She stopped herself, blushing a little again. Camilla hadn't been so open with her emotions in a long time. "I love you." She said more firmly, "I love you too."
She smiled at him, wrapped her arms around his neck. Now more than ever she wanted him to stay with her. She couldn't picture cominng back home after a hard day and him not being there to get upset about it.

His heart warmed a little hearing her say it again, and then a little more the third time. Though, when he smiled, it held a trace of bitterness. Jolene had loved him too. Or had said she had, anyway.
"So... about that nap."

Camilla bent over to pull off her shoes and socks, "I'm not her." She reminded him as she undid her laces. Coming back up to smile at him, she was, however, distracted by her reflection in the glass of his bedroom window. Dear Morpheus. For someone who had always prided herself on her appearance, her image was quite a blow. She cringed and looked away, feeling rather embarrassed all of the sudden.
For once, she was showing how ancient she truly was. Thinking it was too late to wave her wand and grant her face the wish of some cover-up, she shuffled over to the bed and lay down. The damage was done, but she vowed that she wouldn't let herself get this bad ever again. She beckoned to him, but stopped a second later, reminded that as she was now, she probably wasn't very alluring.

Saw through him-- again. And she was right... she really wasn't like Jolene, at all, and this wasn't the young love of higher-classed, carefree people.
A smile tugged at his lips when she beckoned him to the bed. He leaned one knee into the bed next to her and leaned down to place a soft kiss over her mouth.
