Ok. Samantha wasn't that hot today. The whole room had just burst into flames for no apparent reason. David stood and looked around at the screaming and running people, then down to Samantha's hem on fire and then Gavin putting it out with milk.
He scanned the room quickly and spotted a boy who was smirking. Normally, this wouldn't have been out of place except that the Gaia was currently on fire.
David glared, but didn't really feel like confronting him right away. "No dragon, Gavin, but Mr. Inferno over there." He jerked a thumb and then looked around again.
"We should get out of here." Way to state the obvious. He grabbed Sam's arm and began leading her to the exit. She looked a little shocked.

Bela hadn't know that this was part of the plan, but she adapted quickly. Smiling and giggling for no apparent reason (ugh), she twined her fingers through Alex's for a moment, gazing 'adoringly' up at him.
"Sure thing, sweetie," she told him, smiling sweetly at Alex as he slipped away. "You know, he really has no head for colors, but that's what the women do, so we'll be fine." Oh, she was dying to go and see the havoc, but first, she was going to cause some of her own.
Still chattering away (saying things that were quite insipid, in Bela's mind), she deftly pulled the lighter that she always had with her from her pocket.
"So, like I was saying, we were thinking about possibly going with a black, red, and gold theme, do you think you could do that?" she was only speaking to keep the receptionist's eyes away from what Bela's hands were doing. While she spoke, she flicked her Zippo open, made sure it produced a flame and touched the lighter to the receptionist's papers.
Grinning wickedly, she said, "Have a nice day!" before turning on her heel and joining Alex. "Ah, the smell of havoc in the smoke," she murmured, a broad smirk on her face. This was the most fun she'd had since that one time the band had 'accidentally' set the stadium on fire.

Mercedes had been in the office when the hurriedly punched out memo appeared before her on her desk. She scanned it quickly, grabbed her jacket and bolted for the door. She'd be at least five minutes getting there. A building on fire. Arson, most likely. If she hadn't been running as fast as possible, she'd have shaken her head. That or cuss someone out for there not being a public transportation system. Honestly, if she wanted to go anywhere she always had to walk.
When she arrived at the Gaia, winded and with the beginnings of a cramp, she could see the smoke curling out of the open windows. With a feeling of dread she realized people were still inside. No automated sprinkler system either. Mercedes rushed for the entrance and froze almost as solid as the guards who kept watch. All of a sudden she couldn't breath for an entirely different reason.
Mercedes stormed into the Gaia, yelling at those she passed to get out of the building. Running into the main dining room she saw her crouched and with a liter in hand.
"Arabela!" she all but shrieked.

Pale as a sheet, Samantha managed a few jerky nods. Shocked? Just a little. "Th-Thaank...yer..." She tried to get out a 'thank you' as David pulled her to her feet, but she couldn't really manage it. The Gaia was on fire! It was practically her second home after the opera house. It had just been the drapes, but now it was catching onto the walls and a few of the tables.
--------------
Alexander surveyed his handiwork for a minute. Heat simmered in the air and felt like lotion against his skin. "Let's go then, Snookums," he said to Bela. "Time to make our getaway..."
But they'd only taken a few steps when a very distinguishable, "Arabela!" ripped through the air. He froze, turning slowly to Bela. "It's for you," he said unnecessarily, and then worked on making himself hidden.

"Who?" Gavin turned to see Alex and frowned. Stupid arsonist! Wasn't that the flash prince? It was always the flash prince if something was on fire. "Miss Cross are you-"
And, oh, she'd walked off with David.
Gavin would have liked to say he was surprisied, but since a good 40% of all the girls he'd ever been attracted to ended up either walking out with Prince Charming or told him they really didn't need more than a rescue from someone who'd never bother them again, he was more... resigned. Like he was to everything, more or less. It did really suck that he could never catch a break.
Aw, crap. And she actually seemed amused by him instead of worried for his sanity!
Well, nothing to it, but to throw himself into dashing feats of derring-do!
So Gavin tackled Alex to the ground, pinned him there and, with a chipper smile, said, "Hi! You need to put out the fires you caused now, or years of repressed bitterness over the sheer crappiness of my life will overwhelm my reason and I will fry you to a crisp, Mr. Half- Vampire."

His eyes widened slightly as he took in Gavin tackled down the boy he now recognized as Prince Alexander. But he supposed it was a good thing to do. As they passed, he let the side of his foot slide into the side of Alex's head with enough force to hurt just a little. But he kept walking like it had been a complete accident.
He had to get Samantha outside anyways, the poor girl looked like a ghost (and a very lovely one at that). He led her out the doors into the fresh air and took her a good ways away from the building before stopping.
At which point he turned her towards him and placed his hands on her shoulders. "You ok?"

Bela looked around, smile on her face, quite exhilarated by the flames and the havoc. There was nothing like causing a little trouble to get a natural high. Plus, it was TONS amount of fun!
Laughing when Alex called her 'Snookums,' Bela had been just about to respond when she heard her name ring out across the Gaia. Smirk firmly in place, she turned in her sister's direction.
"Yes, sister dear?" she asked sweetly. "What can I do for you this fine day?" Never mind the fact that she and Alex had just set the Gaia on fire, Bela smiled brightly at Mercedes, clearly proud of the flames around them.
She just blinked when Gavin tackled Alex, though. "Um, you might not want to kill one of the Isle's princes, Caballero del señor. Just a thought." After all, she had made sure that she didn't put Alex in any danger. Well, unless you counted the threat of getting arrested (which was probably going to happen, since there were a lot of witnesses to their arson) as 'danger.'

After a few deep breaths of fresh air, Samantha managed to gain some semblance of control over herself. She fanned her face with her hand and nodded, slowly. "Yes, I'm fine. Thank you. Are you oka--- where's Gavin?" She glanced around, slightly frantic, hoping he might still appear. "What happened, is he alright? Are you alright? Oh, I don't even know what to do with all this caring...!" Both hands were now in the effort of calming her nerves.
------------
Alexander gave a surprised 'Oomph!' as a solid form slammed into his side, abruptly winding him. "What the hell?" he growled, twisting futilely, snarling further when something (knee, elbow?) jabbed into his ribs. He glared up at Gavin, his temper flaring wildly. Something knocked into his head and he cursed.
Lips curled dangerously, he turned his attention again to Gavin. It was the knight? Wtf? Oooh... Die. And obviously being a prince wasn't going to help his situation. If Mr. Takes-It-Upon-Himself-To-Save-The-Day knew he was part vampire, then he clearly already knew who he'd tackled to the ground.
"Go ahead, Sunshine," he challenged, his voice low and rough. "You beam that dazzling countenance at me, and I'll roast you alive with the flames of hellfire. We'll see who turns to ash first."

Mercedes eyes slid to her sister to the Prince pinned to the ground and back to her sister. Oh. No.
"You! Arabela, what are you doing here with that?!" Mercedes hissed, on the verge of hysteria.
"¡Señor! Hold him there, please," Mercedes called out to the man sitting on top of Alexander. She'd deal with Bela later. First, she had to evacuate the building.
"Everyone, please remain calm and walk to the exits. Do not open any closed doors! Keep your heads down and move towards the exit!" Mercedes called, wishing she had some sort of back up.
She marched over to Alexander. She'd have been pleased if it weren't for the fact that he'd dragged her sister into this.
"You're under arrest for arson and the destruction of private property," she said stonily, crouching down to place his hands in cuffs. "You will be assigned a court date. If you wish, you may lobby for a change in date. You have the right to request legal representation at your trial," Mercedes rattled off, snapping the magically enhanced (fire-proof and vampire-safe) manacles closed.
"Señor, please watch him," she said to her unknown helper. Once finished with Alexander, she turned to her sister.
"Face the wall, hands behind your back," she said. her voice was icy in the heat of the room. "You're under arrest for arson and the destruction of private property, You can and will be subject to a phone call straight to madre as soon as we get to the Rissa," Mercedes hissed.

"Go right ahead," Gavin replied, with the sort of incomparable cheer common to those who know that their lives could and would get worse, and who were now beyond caring. "I've had a good run- actually, no, I haven't. Being burned to a crisp might be the best thing that's happened to me in a millenia. So go right ahed, Your Highness, and I'll freaking take you down with me because God knows you'd be the crappest ruler the Isles have ever seen."
He glanced up at Mercedes, who snapped the handcuffs onto Alexander and nooded. "Sure thing. Come on, you hellion." Gavin took the moment to sit on top of Alex instead, in such a way to inhibit movement in all but the strongest and most determined of captives. "What the hell posessed you to set fire to your father's kingdom. Teenage rebellion generally doesn't lead to acts of firey destruction on completely unrelated people."

David watched her with a worried expression for a moment. "Gavin's inside, he's fine, he knows how to handle himself around fire." He didn't let his concern for his friend show through, lest it work Samantha up more. She looked close to a panic attack, so he did the thing he knew how to do best, he pulled her agaisnt his chest and lightly petted the back of her head in a soothing motion.
"It's ok Sam. You're fine, I'm fine. Gavin's fine. The draperies, probably not so much."

Rolling his eyes, Alexander scoffed. "Spare me," he muttered irritably, and then glanced up as Mercedes came over. "Arson? Oh dear, there goes my spotless reputation," he pretended to lament and then winced as she slapped handcuffs on him. Okay, they were definitely dealing with a Not Happy Mercedes here. They were fire proof, he already knew, after a rather embarrassing episode some fifty years back trying to melt them off. And did she have to put them on so tight? Geez.
He spared Gavin a quick glare. "I'd really love it if you didn't talk to me." He wiggled (which did all the good of smiling and asking please) and sighed. "And going on a diet wouldn't hurt either." He craned his neck back to Mercedes.
"Mercedes, babe, I think we both know I'm not going to end up imprisoned in Rissa. And I realize everyone's been busy scolding me, but there is a blazing inferno around us. If it doesn't get put out in a minute or so, it's history. How am I supposed to be a good boy and put it out if Sir Eats-Too-Much is on top of me, and my hands are handcuffed?"
----------------------
Stupid David and his stupid comforting self that she didn't have the will to resist at the moment. She slumped onto his chest, gripping onto his shirt. "Samantha," she said, with a half-hearted sniff.

"Nah, you see, that's part of my offensive. Feeling offended yet?" Gavin didn't move except to nab a nearby pitcher of water and to throw it on the flames getting closest to the door. Shame sunlight was absolutely useless here.
"I'm laughing so hard you can't actually hear it," Gavin replied, to the diet comment. "Broke the sound barrier, I did, with my uncontrollable amusement. 'Sides, all this is muscle, from about a thousand years of knight errantry. Thanks to all the drago-slaying and feats of death-defying derring-do, not a squishy bit on me- unlike you. This may sound weird, but you make a pretty good cushion." He glanced over at Mercedes. "So, since my friends have apparently left me to die in a fire, you need any help taking him into Rissa Grande?"

"Keep dreaming, diablo. The only way you're getting out of these cuffs is to go in a cell," she bit out. The patrons and staff had been evacuated and some of the LOS members had shown up to start working on the fire. Not as efficient as what Alexander could have done, but she honestly didn't trust him to keep his word. That and she was still suffering from the hot animosity of finding Alex 'influencing' Bela. She probably wouldn't be nearly as ticked if her sister hadn't been party to the destruction.
"Si. Yes, please. I'd appreciate the assistance," she said to Gavin, glad to have a competent ally. She was pretty wound up as it was. She might not have been able to watch both Alex and Bela all the way back to the Rissa. She grabbed Bela's arm, practically dragging her behind her. "Let's go," she called, leading the procession out of the scorched room.

"I really wish I were gay, just to make that awkward," he said, suppressing another grimace as he was hauled to his feet.
He shrugged, a sort of stiff motion since his hands were behind his back. "Fine. But don't say I didn't offer to help," he said. Mercedes was clearly not in a forgiving mood. This, he realized belatedly, was Bela's fault. Being related to one of the better L.O.S. members. Ch. Then again, he was related to the person that would be delivering their sentence, so he wasn't much better off. Speaking of which, he'd probably better start on his 'humble apology' speech. His dad had been extra touchy ever since that incident with Armand.
They stepped outside (and the flames engulfing the room may have exploded a little higher), and Alexander squinted against the bright sun. It was mildly obscured by the dark smoke, but not enough to stop that small, discomforting itch.
Samantha lifted her head and stepped away from David as the party exited the building. "Oh, I think that's a League of Shadows member. They must have cau--- there's Gavin! Come on." She hoisted up her skirts and ran as quickly as possible.
"Gavin! Are you alright?" she asked breathlessly, approaching them. Her face, slightly worried, and mostly dishevelled, shifted into rage as she caught sight of Alexander. She stared for a few seconds.
Alexander, finally noticing her expression, barely had time to raise an eyebrow before her hand connected cleanly with his cheek. Taken by surprise, his head snapped a little to the side. He shifted his jaw, meeting her fiery glower with equal anger. "What the hell?"
"You detestable spawn of human life! You miserable, arrogant, selfish little brat! How could you?" The Gaia was like her second home, and as far as she knew, it had done nothing to any of the royal family. "You have just destroyed a piece of my life for your amusement. I hate you."
"Well I'm not incredibly fond of you either," Alexander grumbled. His cheek still stung.
Her eyes narrowed, and she looked as if she might slap him again, but instead her hand clenched at her side, trembling with restraint.
