Wind whipped and tugged at his hair, blowing dirt into his eyes. He brought his forearm up in a weak semblance of a sheild, turning to examine the territory.
"Where are the Fates, exactly?" he said, shouting to be heard over the wind. He turned his gaze to his friend, a touch of concern in his eyes. The Edge was pretty brutal territory for someone who spent most of their time in a library.

Demitri was not doing well. His body appeared as though bits of it had been scraped with a cheese grater. Pieces of it flying off due to the harshness of the wind as he shouted, "I TH..." parts of the sentence had been ravaged on by the wind, which seemed determined to accomplish bad grammar no matter what the cost, "I Think....In the....Edge!"

"In the Edge?" he echoed, not at all pleased with that answer. He grabbed hold of Demitri's arm and tugged him forward. "Stay behind me!" he shouted. He would block most of the onslaught, so his friend didn't turn into a tar tornado.
They made their way to the cliff side and Alexander got on his hands and knees, leaning over. The wind now made his eyes sting, his hair shooting straight up. "So, like.. what? Jump?" he asked, doubtful.

"Or climb!" Demitri shouted, grateful, but not showing it, that Alex had stepped in front of him, "Climbing might mean less death!" Quickly Demitri threw himself over the side and began to scale down, soft fingers catching on the rough stone.

Right. Climb. How silly of him to have missed that solution. Everything was always down-side-up in the Isle of Morpheus. Gritting his teeth, he followed Demitri's lead, hoping it wasn't too far down. Or, up. Or whatever.
ooc; Sorry. Short. >>;

The ledge beneath Demitri's foot crumbled, his feet slipped and down he went screaming and cracking his glasses as he reached for a hand to save him but found that gravity moved too fast for rescue.

Alexander stared, his instincts reacting far too slow, and he scrambled forward. "Demitri!" he called. "Demitri, are you dead?"
ooc; Sorry its short. I don't really know whats going on or what happened to Demitri..

Demitri was lying not far from him Half of his body was literally splattered onto the ground. Black and pieces of white bone were spread out beneath the crumbled side of him he fell on, “HERE!” He called, voice muffled by the fact that half of his lips were dripping down part of the stony wall of the cavern. Slowly his body crept back together, the liquid carrying the lost bits back and reassembling him. A brief, sarcastic smile as his lower half allowed him to sit up again, “I feel a little like one of those watermelons splattered helplessly on a piano by a terrible 80’s comedian…” ----------------------------------------------------------- “ooo….” Came the soft coo echoing throughout the cavern, “We have a couple cute ones don’t we.” “Far more adorable than their fathers…” The sound of the old crone giggle, “I don’t think…” “Oh, quiet Present, no one wants to hear what you have to say, we already know.” “…” The four of them were up ahead Four old women in faceless hoods, all sitting in stone armchairs, all playing the same game in different ways. Present faced Death Past faced Future Unfortunately while Past and Future seemed to be in an eternal tie, Present seemed to be fighting an uphill battle against Death as she sighed for the infinite time that century, “I’m just no good at this game,” And was snuffed into silence by the petulant shushes of Present and Future. “When will they get here?” Whined Past “It wouldn’t be any fun if I told…” “I was wondering…” “Sush.” “But…” “Shush!” “…” said Death, the oldest of the four. Past sighed, “I remember when---“ “Oh you’re always remembering when you old bat!” Snapped present, who, after thousands of years, was tired of being shushed all the time, “Old bat! Who are YOU to say----“ “THEY’RE HERE.” Came the final whisper of their fourth sister, which shut them all up quite nicely. All four heads turned, gazing into the darkness, all but the fourth sister, who was still focused on her game with Present.

Hearing Demitri's voice, Alexander crawled a little further, and found the hole that his friend had either fell through or created. He flipped himself inside, landing agilely. He reached down and helped Demitri to his feet, grinning. "Good thing you went first. I can't reassemble myself."

-------------------------- “Ha…haha. I’m glad my mortal peril didn’t put too much strain on you…” As he stood, taking a step forward there was a soft, echoing “crunch” beneath his feet Glasses Oh-no, his glasses, “Alex…” He paused, “How would you feel about having a part-time job as a seeing-eye dog?” -------------------------- “Can you hear them?” “You’d have to be deaf not to!” “Oooo! I’m so excited to---“ “Shush!” The bickering grew louder, echoing through the hallow cavern and down the passageway… ------------------------

"Damn...." He bent down, fingering the shattered glasses in his hand. Yeah. They were history.
"Yeah. You sure you still want to do this if you can't see? It's not like I know where I'm going any---" He paused, holding up a hand (not that Demitri had been talking. "Did you hear that?" he said slowly, without really expecting an answer. He grabbed Demitri's arm and began dragging him along the opening in the cavern.

Demitri felt himself getting draggd along the cavern, nice of Alex to run headlong into what could potentially be a dangerous situation with no idea where they were going... The bickering grew louder Louder A quaint old lady smell (mothballs, and heavy perfume still made of whale fat), began to wash over the musty, ancient space and suddenly Quiet Everything was quiet "Ahhh..." Breathed the voice of the future, "you're here." "Like I said," chiped the past, "Far more handsome than his father." "Which one---" Giggled present "..." The fourth sister had not inclined to notice them

They had to be the Fates. They had made it. Except why were there four?
Their words made an odd, chilling sense, only that they didn't, because.... Demitri wasn't even a born Nightmare, was he?
His grip on Demitri's arm tightened a little. He didn't trust himself to say anything, yet.
