Name: Samantha (not Sam, Sammy or otherwise, thankyouverymuch) Cross
Age: 89 (appears to be 16)
Gender: Female
Group: Dream, quite anti-Nightmare
Occupation: Ballerina at the Opera di Incubi
The dream of beauty, particularly the Jungian archetype of the scarlet woman, Samantha is hauntingly beautiful. She falls short of any exact description, as when one tries to pick out one feature, her face becomes hazy and nondescript; it is only decided that she has a face a man would die for. It is not a classic, sweet beauty, but rather a hypnotic and sensuous allure that makes one feel immediately uncomfortable. Her appearance can shift to fit a man’s vision, but essentially she has an ivory face and dark, violet eyes. Her hair is an untamable chestnut color that she is determine to tame, though the color and shape is often shifting with her moods and men’s stares. Being a dancer, she is as dainty and delicate as the figurine in a music box, and she has an otherworldly grace. When she walks she appears to float, and she has a knack for balancing on her toes. She was created in the Victorian age and as such wouldn’t dream of stepping outside without a corset and a hundred layers of petticoats.
---> Kind of dresses she wears
Samantha is a pistol, in every sense of the word. She was born to be passionate, and her passions control her emotions. She’s quick to laugh, quicker to cry, and quickest to anger. However, she was created for a society that demanded personalities be squeezed into a corset, and she would be horrified to be considered improper. Stifling her true self has made her a tad bitter, and definitely uptight. She is sharp, impetuous, and unforgiving. She does not suffer fools kindly, and is often cruel in her judgments and treatment of others she does not find worthy. Her beauty, as beauty often does, has created a nice severance between her and her heart. Being beautiful is miserable, as any victim may tell you. She idolizes the Gaia, though some of the social events bore her, not that she’d ever admit that. She’s incredibly driven and motivated, working hard to achieve her goals. She has a very nasty temper when provoked, and she’s prone to acts of violence when angry, preferring to throw something rather than “talk about it”. She is unwaveringly strong, both physically and emotionally, but the weaknesses that present themselves cause her to become both enraged or depressed, or both.
Powers: She has a small amount of shape-shifting properties, able to morph her looks to a limited degree. That mesmerizing aura that seems to be draped captivatingly around her also lends itself to a few ‘powers’.
Other Information: Samantha is a ballerina in the Opera di Incubi and is only a few spots off from being the star, something she wants desperately. Like all the ballet rats, she fancied Julien for a time, and was most relieved when he got a girlfriend for the whole matter of having a crush was “utter nonsense”. She wishes the opera house wasn’t so heavily Nightmare dominated, but there is no opera house in Dreamland.

Personality:
III.43. Let the Scarlet Woman beware! If pity and compassion and tenderness visit her heart; if she leave my work to toy with old sweetnesses; then shall my vengeance be known. I will slay me her child: I will alienate her heart: I will cast her out from men: as a shrinking and despised harlot shall she crawl through dusk wet streets, and die cold and an-hungered.
44. But let her raise herself in pride! Let her follow me in my way! Let her work the work of wickedness! Let her kill her heart! Let her be loud and adulterous! Let her be covered with jewels, and rich garments, and let her be shameless before all men!

Done but in thought to your beauty, and ever as pale as before
Growing and fading and growing upon me without a sound,
Luminous, gemlike, ghostlike, deathlike . . .
