Name: John Raven
Age: Not too sure. Sometime around the advent of rock’n’roll and Elvis
Gender: Male
Group: Dream, fairly neutral
Occupation: When he’s not being a rock star, he’s the conductor at the Opera di Incubi
Appearance: As the rockstar dream of girls everywhere, John appears as whichever rockstar the particular human he’s ‘visiting’ is dreaming about. But that’s only when he’s in the Real World. Normally, he looks rather like Jim Morrison. That is to say: dark, curly hair, dark beautiful eyes that could make girls swoon, and a fairly average build. At the same time, his face is a bit rounder, more Paul McCartney-esque.
John tends to dress in jean, a t-shirt and a leather jacket, though he can occasionally be caught in all leather or, sometimes (when he’s feeling particularly Beatles-y), he’ll be seen wearing a suit reminiscent of those on the cover of the Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album.
Personality: John Raven acts like your typical rockstar, with a few exceptions. He loves to party and it doesn’t really matter who’s throwing said party. He does occasionally drink, but John’s rarely seen actually drunk; tipsy, yes, but still mostly functional.
When people recognize John (as they sometimes do), he’ll smile, talk to them politely for a few minutes, and then go right back to what he was doing. Unless, of course, they catch his interest, which takes some doing, sometimes.
John used to be something of a womanizer, but he’s toned it down quite a bit recently. For a while, it seemed as though he was trying to live up to Jim Morrison’s reputation (since he looks a little like him), but he found that that just caused misery, something this dream doesn’t like to do.
Even though he is a dream, John works in the Opera di Incubi due to needing to be around music. Of course, there is SOME call for rockers, but his paycheck more often than not comes from the di Incubi. His band, The Dreamcatchers, will gladly play any gig, most of them free of charge or for charity.
Powers:
-John’s powers lie in his music. He’s able to infuse the notes that come from his mouth or whatever instrument he’s playing with deep-seated emotion, whether the person needs love, needs to feel happy, or occasionally, just needs a good cry.
-This dream can play pretty much any instrument that he’s been dreamed playing. So, that’s quite a bit!
-This might not be considered a power, but the other dreams (some of them) consider it to be, so I’ll put it, anyway: John is considerably tolerant of Nightmares. In fact, he would say that some of his best friends are from the Chimera side of the border.
Other Information: John also writes songs, tending to draw a lot from the rockers that were “used” to dream him up. He’ll occasionally speak with a bit of a Liverpudlian accent, but more often than not, he’s just “plain old British.”
