Name: Vince Delano
Age: Almost half a millenia.
Gender: Male
Group: Nightmare. No prejudices. He hates everyone equally.
Occupation: Director of the League of Shadows.
Appearance: Tall, built, and brooding. His hair is a decaying black, making it more of a slate gray color. It’s matted and unkempt, tied in haphazard ponytail at the base of his neck, much of it falling into his face and eyes. His eyes are a crisp, hazel color, like whiskey. However, they glow red whenever his temper gets the better of him, or he goes full out ‘mummy’s-curse’ on someone. As a mummy, Vince is covered head to toe in dirty, gauze bandages that leave only his eyes and part of his mouth visible. He could walk around with no clothes and not show anything, but he layers himself with dark clothing reminiscent an Arabic samurai, complete with boots, heavy wrap-around cloaks, and sometimes even neck wear that nearly covers his chin. Everything about him is hard and repellant, and without moving or speaking, he is instantly classified as scary.
The rotting, terrifying monster he portrays is only one half of him, however. The other half is the powerful Pharaoh whose curse he bears. When this side of him is dominant (only two or three times a year, unless otherwise provoked), his skin is golden tan, his hair a rich glossy black, his body youthful and strong and marked with numerous Egyptian tattoos, including the elaborate eye-liner.
Personality: Vince is a cynical recluse, misanthropic and slow to trust. His cold and arrogant exterior intimidates most people from wanting to get close him, and that's the way he likes it. He's fiercely independent, and generally views others as obstacles in the pursuit of his own goals, and it nearly kills him to have to ask for help, ever. He possesses almost no social scruples, and civil manners are not something he cares to strain himself with. He is a strong non-conformist and gives little regard to how others perceive him. He often displays sardonic contempt for authority figures. He’s sarcastic, blunt, aloof, callous and generally a whole lot of nasty, but he’d do anything for the microscopic group of people that have managed to earn his respect and loyalty. The concept of family still baffles and frightens him, but that doesn’t mean he takes his role as godfather any less seriously. It’s taken a lot of years, but his bitter edge has softened considerably, and if had to pick a morale standpoint, he’d probably pick the good side. Mary has effectively shattered his determinacy to remain a loner, and now, things feel more off when she’s gone than when she’s around.
As the League of Shadows director and trainer, Vince is well trained in several styles of martial arts and combat. He fights like it involves no skill or effort at all, going as far as making it look easy. When dealing with officers not up to his skill level (almost all), he often displays a merciless attitude, swiping his victims off in a typical sadistic, take-no-prisoners fashion. Vince is focused and driven, with a strong work ethic that borders on maniacal. He’s incredibly intelligent, well versed in medicine and history, though he prefers ancient techniques before modern.
History: Detailed version forthcoming. Summarized version: As a Pharaoh, he was constantly dealing with deceit and murder and ploys against his own life. Everything was always a lie. When the Nightmare of his curse carried to Chimera, he brought the attitude with him. He lived in the underground world of the realm of Nightmares and was both feared and powerful. He led a black, solitary life until a ragtag group of thieves found him and asked his assistance. In an unexpected turn of events, he stayed with the group, and even grew to care for them over the years of their exploits. When the leader of the group, and probably the person closest to him at the time, turned heel on them all and became king, he retreated to their old training grounds, the Cirque de Louis, and lived as a recluse once more. When Jack finally got his butt in gear and started turning things around, his solitude was disturbed once more. Jack never asked for their help, he knew he didn’t have a right to, but Vince, like the others, couldn’t help the loyalty for the king, and they came to his aide, fighting by his side against rebellions, helping establish the kingdom, and finally, playing his right hand men in the war against the Dreams. Around that time was when Mary parked her annoying behind directly into his sanctuary, and then refused to leave. She was one of the first enlisted to the League of Shadows, and his since been Vince’s companion. Though he’d sooner choke than actually say the words, he loves her, if the word can be described as an intense feeling of liking, and a desire for her well being over his own.
Powers: Vince can extend his bandages at will and without boundaries. They’re as strong and hard as steel, and provide a nice makeshift harness. He also has the capability to call forth an army of the undead, but it takes a lot out of him, so he rarely does.
