Jasper stepped forward and caught her, holding her upright.
"How bad is it?" he asked, touching her arm that was already beginning to color, and then her temples. It really was irritating to worry so much about her well being. It made everything complicated, and he got no good feelings in return for his trouble.

She was grateful to have Diaspro's hands off her, and for once she let Jasper fret because she didn't have the energy to be mad at him. Never had she been in such a confusing situation. Jasper was someone she really liked, and yet here he was having helped keep her hostage for a week. At the very least, she could tell he felt bad about it, but it didn't really change much. Had he really been ready to use those bombs on innocent people?
"I'm okay." She said, twisting her arm to get a good look at the bruise. "I've got a headache." Big surprise. Camilla looked up at Jasper (like there was any other way to look him in the eye) and gave a sad smile. "I'm sorry I got us into this mess. I guess curiosity really is a killer."

You and me both, he thought, but he didn't say it out loud. Being stressed and confused didn't quite amount to having your head sandwiched between two stones.
He sat down on the dusty ground, resting his forearms on his bent knees. "Well," a vague smirk flickered over his mouth. "I guess someone cared you were gone, anyway."

She sat down across from him and nodded wearily. "I think someone simply noticed the Hospital didn't run as well without me doing all the work. I almost don't want to go back." Sure someone had to kidnap her and keep in her in basement to force her into some semblance of a vacation, but it had been kind of nice and the place had probably gotten all disorganized in her absence.
"Not that I particularly love your basement, but it was nice, not having ten thousand needs poking at me all day long."

"Maybe," he mused. "A personal visit from the king himself seems pretty important to me."
He studied her carefully. "You ought to take a vacation once in awhile."

"I used to be his Fairy Godmother." She said, she couldn't see the harm in telling him. "I was kind of mean about it though. I told him he had to cry on my card to summon me." She sighed, "Then I found out he would abuse one of his friends for the tear."
Camilla almost laughed, an actually, not forced vacation? "The place has probably fallen apart without me there. It's hard to ignore all those voices wanting something." It was even harder when they broke her heart.
Diaspro stood then, from her squatting position and waddled over to them. "Fire the flare, I know what I want." Careful to place her hand in the exact same spot it'd been early, she hoisted Camilla to her feet with ease.

Without standing to his feet, he shot the flare over his head. Here we go again.
A mere ten minutes later, Jack reappeared from a passing shade on the ground. He didn't say anything, merely crossed his arms and waited. He hoped it was just money that she wanted. He didn't care if he had to deplete the royal treasury some.

Diaspro smiled, she appreciated the promptness. "No arrest warrants, the bombs back in one piece, fully functional, five hundred thousand Kings and a promise that we'll be left alone."
Camilla sighed. She really didn't think Jack would give these guys back those bombs. She didn't want him too. There wasn't anything that self-sacrificing about it, but how awful would it be if those were used and she knew it was largely because of her? Or, she'd feel that way at least. She shook her head at Jack.

Jack blatantly ignored Camilla's warning, smiling smoothly at Diaspro. "Done."
Jasper raised an eyebrow, sending a suspicous glance at his leader. Done? That's it? No fight, no bang, the king just gives them exactly what they want.
"How do you want the money delivered?"

Diaspro was surprised herself, but her stone face belied none of it. "I want everything delivered to the cabin by the end of the day." She was tired of toting around the stupid fairy, she wanted to be rid of the woman, but there wasn't a chance she was trusting Jack's word.
She began to rumble off, Camilla in tow, back towards their no longer secret cabin. James finally popped out from behind the rock he had been hiding behind, with a suspicious looking button in hand. He flashed a surprising grin at the king and hurried after the two women.
As she passed Jack, feeling very much the child in the strong unbreakable grasp of a mother toting her misbehaved spawn home, she glared at him. He'd better have something up his sleeve, she thought. Or I'm going to kill him.

They were making this too easy. Jack watched them go, almost tempted to wave them a cheerful goodbye. He resisted however, gratifying himself with a confident wink at Camilla as she passed him.
Incoming.
Simon answered in his ear: They're coming to the cabin again? He sounded doubtful. Of course Simon had been willing to help, setting aside his own tasks for the day to provide more firepower to their arsenal.
Be ready.
We will be. Vince, this time. He far less happy about dropping everything to deal with this little problem that had blossomed from nuisance to actual threat. Jack didn't envy Camilla's captors.

Diaspro pulled Camilla through the front door, who was somewhat calmer. Maybe Jack did have something up his sleeve. He hopefully wasn't going to give them what they asked for. The moment they were all in the door, Diaspro nodded to James who nodded to her and then scampered off, quick as a rat.
She looked around, but couldn't detect anything out of the ordinary and moved to the couch, pulling Camilla down next to her.
"Now we wait."

The silence continued for several more seconds to better create a false sense of security, and then four sets of mummy bandages whistled through the air and latched onto both Jasper and Diaspro like bumper stickers, securing first their wrists and ankles, and then whirling around the rest of their bodies with blinding speed. At last they stilled, secured to a point of discomfort. Didn't want their captives to be able to breathe easily, after all.
Jasper had tipped once his ankles were forced together, and at his height, it was a pretty massive crash to the floor. He struggled now, trying to get a hand on his pistol, but his wrists were bound together, and then bound again to his torso.
Vince emerged from the shadows, a tawny wolf at his heels. (His clothes had been shredded in the transformation, and though he didn't mind bearing his birthday suit, Vince had threatened him on pain of death).
"You're under arrest for attempted kidnapping and illegal possession of Dreambombs."

Camilla had almost screamed, because she'd had no clue what was going on, but it was over so fast she didn't really have the chance. Diaspro was on the ground, which had snapped the wood under her and Camilla was free. She rubbed her sore arm and looked at Vince and Johnny--both people she knew and gave a small smile.
"Thanks." But then her eyes drifted to Jasper and she sighed. He was going to end up in Rissa and she was going to have to break him out and no matter what her excuse that was going to make her a criminal too. "Umm, there's another one? He ran off thataways."
James had heard the very, very loud thud that had been Diaspro hitting the ground. He knew what to expect. He'd been in his room, setting it up to explode along with the dream bomb he'd rigged. He came out into the hallway just as Camilla ratted on him. And he pressed the button.
BOOM would've been an understatement.

Walking to the cabin, taking his sweet time, Jack was nearly blown off his feet by the sudden wave of heat and dust that hit his face. He staggered back a few steps, raising an arm to shield his eyes. He squinted and saw the smoke billowing from the cabin in the distance.
"What... the hell...?"
Vince saw the trigger a second too late. He immediately flew at his other officers--- he was responsible for them--- but in doing so lost any advantage he would have in protecting himself. The ceiling and walls caved in around them and the jolt of the explosion knocked him off his feet.
