David pulled away after another moment and smiled, touching the corner of her mouth with his thumb. She was so incredibly frustrating, but she tended to make up for it. The funny thing was, he could still feel the anger thrumming under the attraction.
"I'm sorry." He muttered softly.

She blinked dazedly, trying to gather her bearings, and for the most part failing. "Don't be," she managed, before returning his smile. Though, if he wasn't careful, she was going to have her way with him right in the middle of this five star restaurant.
She blushed suddenly, remembering Marie and Genn. She smiled shakily at them. "Sorry," she apologized. Why had she gone along with that? Hadn't she been ready to throttle him? Oh no, she thought miserably. It's finally happened. I'm not in control anymore. It was a foreign situation.

To keep from staring, Genevieve had become very keen on drawing designs in the top of her custard with her fork.
Well. They went off course for a while, but Genn and Marie’s plan had actually worked. Kind of? Maybe Marie had planned that all along, she knew that their bitter anger would lead to kissing? Genevieve would give her the benefit of the doubt.
She smiled at Samantha, trying her best not to look embarrassed, “Oh, that’s alright. Should I get the check?”

Marie hadn't been planning that at all, but why not say she had? "See! I am brilliant." She declared matter-of-factly, sending Genn a smug look and then grinning at Samantha. "So, cherie, are you 'appy now?"
It was about time.
David smiled sheepishly at Genn, but he didn't make an kind of eye contact with Marie because he didn't want Sam to get mad at him again. He put an arm around Samantha and wanted nothing more then to get out of here with her. Not that Genn wasn't very nice but he was ecstatic at the moment and didn't think he'd be able to sit through lunch.
'Uh, yes, the cheque. I'll pay." Even though he hadn't actually even received what he'd ordered yet. It didn't matter. Because he could do this!
He tugged Samantha's chin to him and kissed her again, softly.

She hated to feed Marie's ego, but even as she tried to maintain a straight face, her mouth kept turning up at the corners against her will. Eveything was happening so fast, her logic and sense of mind had yet to catch up with the rest of her. She was giddy over the fact that David had willing kissed her and hadn't ran away. But again, she reminded herself, so fast! She should think about this, right?
He kissed her and she melted.
What's to think about?
She looked at Marie and managed a pathetic, half-smile. I owe you, girl. She hadn't even realized how hung up on David she was until now, when she was slapped across the face with it.

Haha! Victory! Marie couldn't quite understand how she'd ever managed to get decapitated. She was so good at this.
"Bien non! I will pay, aftair I eat. Genn and I will stay, right cherie?" She turned to Genn with a broad smile. It wasn't like she'd be getting back into this restaurant anytime soon. The two lovebirds could skidaddle, but she wasn't giving up her reservations.
David didn't care who payed and figured whothehellcared probably owed it to him even though things had worked out beautifully. He leaned down to whisper in Samantha's ear.
"Where would you like to go?"

Genevieve shrugged at Marie. Reservations were pretty hard to get in these parts. “Yeah, we’ll stay. Uhh, see you guys later?” She said, wiggling her fingers in a wave.

Perfect, fine, whatever, yeahyeahletsleavealready. She couldn't stand to her feet quick enough. Years of being forced to balance a stack of books on her oh-so-sprightly head was the only thing that saved her from tripping.
She grabbed his hand, pulling him along. "Bye girls!" she trilled. "Anywhere," she continued to David. She bit her lip, pausing. "If, I...um. Are you sure, I mean? It's just, I've had time to think about what I would do if you actually showed an interest, but if it's more...um, spontaneous for you...." She trailed off, unable to bring her sentences to a point.

They'd gotten out of the restaurant when she started confusing the heck out of him.
"...What?" Had she had something to drink? Hit her head? He'd never heard her be this incoherent. She was usually quite eloquent and you know, sane. "What're you talking about?" He was usually good at understanding women, fantastic at it even. But this was different. She wasn't his friend, or she was more then that, and that left him in foreign territory.

She wrung her hands helplessly. After she sucked in a lungful of air and released it shakily through her lips, she managed to say, "What I mean to say, David, is that I know I like you. It is not sudden inspiration that has spurred me in our... er, actions, and I just wondered at.... your feelings." She looked down, but quickly tilted her chin up in an effort at quelling any vulnerability that might leak through. "Though, you should hardly be worried by my feelings."

Oh no. Why did she have to make him think? Rationalize? He grabbed her face between his hands almost angrily and stared down at her. "I really, really like you Samantha." He sighed and watched the contours of her face for a moment. The elegant stroke of her cheekbone, the slope of her nose. God, she was beautiful.
"It's not spontaneous." He let go of her then, to rake a hand through his hair (he was going to go bald). "But....Gavin."

She smiled between his hands. Good.
She watched him for a moment, the tiniest of creases appearing between her brows. She usually tried not to frown--- wrinkle-lines and all. "But," she began, frustrated, "There never was anything with Gavin. Some harmless flirting at first, and we went on a date, but.... not anything that... stuck."

"Maybe for you. But he was supremely angry with me when he found out I slept with you." He sighed and took a step back from her. It was so much easier to forget who he was around her, but not when he was forced to pause.
"I need to talk to him before..." Before what? He wasn't quite sure what came next, but all he knew was that Gavin was a good friend and he wasn't about to do this to the Knight again.

"Oh. Alright."
This all seemed a bit too familiar. She kept her face smooth and said, "I admire you for it." And she did. She was always the Other Woman, always with men who had no conscience about cheating on their wives or girlfriends.
She just didn't like waiting.

David smiled and took her hand in his. "Thanks." He was glad she admired it. It was one of the things he hated most about himself. "I haven't seen him in a while, we're still fighting, I guess." They began walking down the street.
"But a walk can't piss him off, right?"
