Demitri stood with Alex in the forest A place far away enough so that any major buildings wouldn’t be destroyed incase something went wrong Also The forest sucked in all kinds of energy, it increased the power and chance of the jewel working if that tested it here

"Nice..." Alexander mused, glancing around with his hands in his pockets.
He opted against taking his bike, lest anything happen to his baby, and they'd hiked the majority of the way in. He flicked his eyes to Demitri.
"Now what genius?"

Demitri paused, “This would be so much easier if we knew how your dad’s jewel worked…” He stared down at the jewel, “It needs a catalyst, I know there is something here, but we need to figure out how to set it off.” He thought back, “Last time it was the atmosphere of the mountains, when I would hike to certain places it would make a humming sound or maintain minor reactions like changing the wind patterns or creating a temporary illusions…but here…” He thought, “It seems to have gone dead.”

A dead jewel was not particularly interesting to him, or worth his time. He frowned, leaning forward to better look at it in Demitri's hand. It appeared painfully simple to him.
He sighed, rolling his eyes. "Let me see it," he muttered irritably, and snatched it from Demitri's hand without waiting for a reply. He turned it over in his fingers, a bored glare marring his face, when inexplicably, it thumped to life. Like a heartbeat.
His eyes widened even as it emitted a faint glow, and he looked at Demitri.

Demitri’s gaze was focused on the jewel, eyes flicked towards Alex for a moment as he felt the air around them change. The gem around them whispered, yet the words only formed within Alex’s mind, “What is it you desire most” It soothed, hushing within each secret, each deep want, “And I will give it to you.” A smile crept across Demitri’s face, ideas that didn’t seem like his own continually crawled into his head, an infestation that had been waiting so long to resurface, and consume The voice continued to sooth Alex, “I will make it real, possible.”

Alexander stiffened at the unexpected voice. It seemed to whisper from afar, carried by the wind, and yet stirred inside him as if it had come from his own throat. Where... He glanced at Demitri. He felt at once stupid asking if he had heard it too. The voice was for him alone, his, although.... that smile on Demitri's face. A shiver --rough, like a file grating-- went down his spine, and his gaze shifted to the jewel in his palm, now warm against his already fevered skin. He cleared his throat, shaking his head against the chilling voice. "I, er... what." He paused, gathering his thoughts. "I mean, what do we do now?"

Demitri’s sharp eyes narrowed at Alex as an unknown, calculated recklessness seeped within his expression and his thought, “We use it.” His voice unusually soft, suggestive, as if anything at that time would seem like a good idea, The warmth of the jewel in Alex’s hand, “It’s responding isn’t it?” The fevered excitement rushed into his voice, “Speaking…almost, yes…yes we have to use it! It would be a pity not to…to see what it could do.” The startling green widened, he reached as if to touch it, but backed away slightly, “Use it…” The smile, “You have to…it was meant for you…that’s why it works…it would only make sense that it would belong to you…and who knows,” He lost a slight control as his fingers began to drip Quickly he lowered them, willing the black back to him, “what kind of power you could have, with a thing like that.”

Alexander watched Demitri, a feeling of unease blossoming at the dark, slightly insane look that kept creeping into his friend's eyes.
"I think we should... test it first," he said uncertainly. Also, he wasn't sure he bought the whole genie bit. Ask and it shall be yours. Nothing was that easy.
He flexed his fingers, feeling the familiar surge of heat through his veins. Though, somehow, it felt different, white and impossibly hot, like lightning pulsing in time with his heartbeat.
He lifted a finger and placed a tree in his viewpoint. Burn, he thought, calling the heat from the air and trunk of the tree as one. The rush of flame surged through the air--- more than he had summoned, too much---
His eyes widened in shock, and a perverse kind of pleasure. He had meant to ignite the tree, but fifty yards of forest had been reduced to nothing but ash.

The sharp orange of the flame reflected within the soft green of Demitri’s gaze as he remained at a loss for words Watching the power blossom before him from the winking jewel Imagine “Perfect” He hushed after a moment, drawing his gaze to Alex, “Imagine what you could do if you could control it…” The aw still echoed in his voice at the little remnant of history he had discovered within the niche of the mountains. Discovery All this time studying what had already been found But now…he had found something, what other secrets did that tiny trinket have locked inside He had to know It was perfect Alex would be the vessel for that discovery, since the remnant seemed to respond to him so very well “We have to know…” He started, still caught up in the thrill of knowing, “We have to know what else it can do, where it came from and why it responds to you!” He grabbed Alex roughly by the arm, “What else can you do, is it speaking to you, how did you do it?” He paused for a moment, “Your dad’s jewel…” Thoughts racing, “We have to get it…we have to see how it responds to yours…we have to see how they compare what they share. “

Geez, Demitri was more excited than he was.
He answered the questions as best he could, which wasn't well. "I didn't do anything, I was only trying to burn one tree. And it sort of talked to me once, I think. And the Jewel of Ages?" He raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, right. He never takes it off his neck, and he sure won't give it to me."

Demitri smiled, “he can’t wear it all the time..” He paused for a moment “but then again…perhaps you’re right it could be foolish…” His thoughts trailed off trying to think of a way…to simply take it After all, it was for the sake of discovery

"But he does." Alexander groaned, arching his neck back. He whipped it back, blinking in enlightenment.
"Though, perhaps not when he sleeps.... but... damn. Demitri, he'd know it was me. Who else would it be?"
