ooc; New title because that was really a cherry on my bad title cake
Without instant transportation the trek to the castle wasn't a fun job, but she was coming to realize how out of shape she was. This was something she'd have to work on.
The Fairy Godmother knocked on the castle door like she always did because just barging in seemed kind of rude. She hoped none of his gang or whatever the heck it was was over because there was no way she was in the mood to face that mummy again.
Apparently, though, his daughter did have unicorns, and now it was just a matter of persuading one to give up it's horn, rendering it powerless. Hopefully his daughter was still able to fit under the maiden category because that certainly wasn't Camilla (and definitely not Atropia).

“I’VE GOT THE DOOR!” Genn called, slipping her copy of Gone with the Wind under her copy of Gothic Beauty Magazine, and skipping into the foyer. She was dressed in her now-usual manner: red leather stovepipe pants underneath a zebra-print strapless minidress, topped off with about a hundred plastic lime-green bangles. Her eyemakeup was done in black and limegreen glitter, her hair teased up to near-impossible heights; the plastic skull clip that currently resided behind her left ear didn’t do much to hold it back. She looked like she just walked off the stage of some garage punk band.
She pulled the door open excitedly, Marie was supposed to meet her for a shopping day.
It was not Marie.
“Oh, uhm. Hello, can I help you?”

Camilla took in what she could only assume was the Princess with undisguised surprise for a moment before remembering her manners. "Oh, yes, actually. I treated your brother?" She added as prompt for the girl's memory, which seemed to have forgotten her.
"Is your father around?" And then she paused and looked back at Genn. "Actually, this kind of concerns you as well." The chance of getting a horn lay directly with the Princess.
"You own some unicorns, right?"

“Oh! Of course. Thanks again for that,” Genn half-smiled, half-grimaced. Pretty much the whole family had addressed the topic as taboo; it was always kind of weird to hear about it. “Hold on, ma’am, let me get him—“ She turned to run to get Jack, but paused. Unicorns?
Genn furrowed her brow as she turned to face Camilla. It wasn’t a question she was used to. “Sure, I have two adults and a little baby one. Why?” Genevieve held up a heavily bejeweled index finger, signaling for Camilla to hold the answer for ‘just a sec’.
“DADDY, SOMEONE IS AT THE DOOR FOR YOU,” she yelled through cupped hands before turning on her 4-inch studded heels and waiting for Camilla’s response.

Camilla felt kind of bad, she'd had been hoping the girl wouldn't have just a family unit, but of course nothing ever happened the way it should. "I...need one of their horns." She replied, somewhat apologetically.
"I don't know if your dad told you about this, but it's a bit of a long story." Trying to summarize it so it all made sense was a little difficult so she just spat out what she could, "When your father and his friends came to rescue me (I'd been kidnapped) a piece of ceiling fell on Mary and she broke her back. I would've fixed it sooner but the psycho who nabbed me snapped my wand in half."

Jack came down the stairs, face lighting up when he saw Camilla. Vince had relayed Mary's restlessness, unintentionally. But such was the burden of sharing minds-- you got an in depth look at things that otherwise wouldn't be passed around.
"So I see you've met Genn," he said. He'd gone out personally to check if she had any unicorns in her little zoo (that had been a really fun trip), and had been relieved to find more than one, even. He approached them, an eyebrow raised in question. He didn't have a clue how this was supposed to work, or if Camilla had even told Genn the plan.

Genn looked horror-struck. Mary? “No, I wasn’t informed,” she dropped her voice to a whisper as she heard Jack coming down the hallway, “Daddy’s mad at me. He’s hardly spoken to me in a month.”
She dropped her conspiratorial tone just in time, “Yes, we met,” Genn replied coolly, not even turning to look at her dad. “I’d be more than happy to help…but…it won’t hurt them, will it? I mean, we don’t have to like, saw their horn off, right? I don’t want to harm them. They’re living beings and deserve compassion equal to what we would treat a person with.” She had made lectures on this subject, it really just came naturally.

Camilla wondered why, the Princess seemed perfectly sweet despite her questionable taste in clothing and makeup. "She's going to be okay, as soon as I get this wand done." She replied as Jack came down the stairs.
"I have. And no, it won't hurt them. They won't grow a new one though, I'm afraid. It's a big sacrifice for a unicorn to make. If you explain the story to it, though, they're kind things. We can only hope."

Jack met Genn's frostiness toward him with a couple of temperature drops of his own. Sometimes, he was ready to let her sleep with anyone and everyone she wanted, just so she'd talk to him again.
He tipped his head toward the French doors on the other side of the foyer. "That leads out to the gardens and grounds."

Genevieve indicated for Camilla to follow as she brushed past Jack and out onto the grounds. She flipped her hair with a great deal of attitude, a gesture that was nearly identical to her mother’s. Sometimes, it was eerie.
She threaded through her little menagerie with authority. It was more familiar to her than most of the castle. Many of the animals looked very excited to see her, even a bit dejected as she passed. An eggshell-blue songbird landed on her shoulder as she drew to a stop before a tree bearing nearly-glowing golden apples. She plucked a couple, holding them in the skirt of her minidress. It was all very Disney. You know, except the fact that Genevieve looked like she fell headfirst into a HotTopic and emerged in front of a unicorn pasture.
“I’ll try my best,” she said, over her shoulder, to Camilla, “I don’t want to bully them, though.” She waved over her shoulder and slipped into the grove of skinny trees.
“Stanhope,” Genn called melodically, attracting the intelligent eyes of the largest unicorn of the group. He was about 18 hands, with a pristine white coat, impossibly dark black mane and tale, and gold hooves and horn, and he was probably Genevieve’s favorite pet, besides Crawford Kennedy. She offered him an apple, but he bypassed it. He knew something was up. Unicorns are smart like that.
“Here’s the thing, Stanhope,” Genn began, like she was talking to a person, gesturing and all. “My auntie, Mary, has gotten really badly injured, I don’t think she can walk. There’s a woman here who can help her, a fairy godmother. Isn’t that cool? I didn’t know we actually had any that didn’t flit around looking stupid. Anyway, the only issue is that she needs to make a new wand, and for that she needs a unicorn’s horn. And I figured, ‘Hey, I know a unicorn, and he’s my buddy’,” Genn sighed, petting Stanhope’s nose, “I wouldn’t ask unless it wasn’t serious.”
---
Genevieve slipped out from behind the trees, preceded by a tall white horse with a half-dollar sized circle of gold in the middle of its forehead. She handed the horn over the fence to Camilla, with a small smile. “You should thank Stanhope. He was very gracious.”

Camilla took the wand reverently and dipped her head to the unicorn although she didn't try and get any closer. She didn't want to upset Stanhope. "Thank you. It really means a lot. If ever you want a wish granted..." She smiled and than headed away from the fence.
"Thank you so much Genn. It's great to see a girl so kind, with her priorities straight. To many girls your age are sleeping around, it's awful. You think you'll wait till marriage?"
She turned to Jack with a smile, holding up the beautiful horn. "How is Mary holding up?"

Mary who? He blinked, rather dumbly, at Camilla, processing her words to Genn. The implication was clearly that Genn was innocent in that sense, and couldn't have gotten the horn otherwise. Elated, he turned to Genn with a broad, delighted smile before he could stop himself.
And then, quickly remembering himself, he said to Camilla: "She's, uh... not so good. At least according to Vince. She's restless..."

Please don’t realize what she’s getting at. Pleasepleasepleasseeeee.
UGH.
All her hard work, down the drain. All the staying up late to get bags under her eyes, all her dealing with the horrible mix of cigarette smoke and cologne all the time, the relentless planning with her Girls, and most of all the weight of lying to her parents for this long—all for nothing.
If Camilla wasn’t going to use the horn to heal Mary, Genn would have totally taken it back. She was angry. She looked up at the gray Chimera sky, so tempted to shake her fist. She instead just mouthed, “Why?”, silently cursing anything and everything she could think of.

Camilla felt worse all of the sudden, maybe she'd go check up on the woman when she'd be sure Vince wasn't there. Although she wasn't entirely sure Mary herself was so fond of her at the moment.
Marie, who had been directed to the menagerie, came around the corner looking 100% the bad influence that Genn had succumbed to. Her hair was even done up in a stylized version of Frankenstein-Bride-do. "Darling!" She called, ignoring both the father and the other woman who certainly wasn't Pia.
Coming up next to Genn she gave her a secretive wink before kissing her as a greeting. Not on the cheeks, but full on the lips. Not a peck either. Completely indecent and shocking and also perfection, according to their plan.

Jack stared at the two girls once the kiss.... broke off. It wasn't that he had anything against different sexual preferences, but... Genn? His Genn? He was beginning to think he didn't know his daughter at all. He'd always thought she wanted the traditional, fairy tale type of love.
He exchanged a look with Camilla, as if to say, did you see that too?
