Jack gave Marie a dry look. As if this twitchy little human was going to be the answer to all their problems. Give him a little cushion and hospitality and oh!-- crisis averted.
Sure, Marie.
What he was doing now was keeping the human in safe quarters before it got out that it was roaming the streets unhindered, and then, hopefully, find a way to get it back where it belonged.
"So. Marcus, was it? What's wrong with human's minds? Besides the obvious."

The look did not go unnoticed, and it bewildered her a bit. If they knew what was wrong, wouldn't it help? They could do something to fix it. Shrugging, she led Marcus into the castle, patting his arm like she might a frightened child.
She realized when she was being edged out of conversation, but she didn't really mind. Too bad Genn wasn't here. The Princess had taken it upon herself to help the needy, which apparently didn't include her starving friend. Pffft. She could sense a boring conversation coming on, it was nothing she hadn't heard before, so saying something about a bathroom and then trotting off.
She walked up the stairs as quietly as she could, genuinely looking for the bathroom at first. But something caught her eye first. A bedroom door, opened a crack. Even when she slipped inside and it was mostly cleaned out, she knew who it belonged to. The scorch marks on the floor and walls made that much abundantly clear. Smiling slightly, she went to his dresser and looked to see if anything had been left in the drawers.

[Caitlin, you and I will continue with Marcus and Jack separately, and Julia and I will do a little spin-off with Alexander and Marie, but it's all the same RP. (:]
Alexander hurried into his room, and obviously not expecting to see anyone, pulled up short at the sight of Marie. He'd come over to find an old shirt of his (light gray) that Nellie didn't believe existed (it was practically pastel, he insisted). He'd passed his father conversing with a slightly nervous guy --then again, most people were nervous when talking with King Jack-- but hadn't lingered, sparing a quick salute and then moving on to his room.
"Hello," Alexander said, arching a brow. "Have we met?"

Thank Morpheus she'd heard someone storming up the stairs or else Alexander would've come in to see her smelling said gray shirt. Instead, she'd had time to stuff it back in the dresser and slam the drawer shut before she gasped at his sudden entrance. Her demeanor quickly turned from surprised, however, to positively glacial.
"I certainly 'ope not." She replied. She didn't really know how to justify her being in his room, since "I was looking for the bathroom" was just going to make her seem retarded. "Now eef you'll just move, I'll go."

"Actually," Alexander interrupted breezily, sliding into the path between her and the door. "I was hoping we had, since you are in my room, and otherwise..." He mock-grimaced, "It's just kind of weird."

"Well, I used to 'ave a friend zat looked almost exactly like you. Except 'ee turned out to be a gigantic asshole, and we don't talk anymore." She would've tried to force her way by, but that close he might pick the signs of hunger off her features and the almost-scary weight loss. Besides, she hardly had the strength to push him aside.

He blinked once, honestly bewildered at first. He tried to recall the must-have-been-huge blow out that had lead to this frosty reception, but he was coming up short.
"Hey, hey," he said, holding his hands up. "I guess it's general knowledge that I'm an asshole, but I thought I'd started to grow on you?"

The fact that he looked bewildered annoyed her to no end. "How can eet grow on me when I haven't seen you in months? You said you wouldn't leave, but you lied." She moved forward now, tired of this. She had thought enough about him.
Placing a hand on his arm she tried to gently push him aside, with no real force because she did not have the strength, even when she was healthy. "See you again when we accidentally run into eachother somewhere down ze road."

He frowned, barely even feeling the attempt made to push him aside. "It's not like you looked me up either," he returned. "The only time you've ventured into no-man's land was with that uppity flirts-with-me Mikhail guy. And what do you mean I wouldn't leave? I've been in the same place, and you're not sick anymore."

"You were too wrapped up in Nellie to even bothair. At least I made an attempt. Aftair zat, nozzing." She backed up again, not that he had proven himself the most observant man on the face of the Isle.
"And when zis whole famine started, did you even bothair to check if I was okay? Non! I bet I 'aven't even crossed your mind since zis whole fiasco."

His mouth flexed into the usual devilish grin, the inquiry Jealous? on the tip of his tongue, and then he remembered-- that kiss-- and the smile faded away. He realized now that the problem was he honestly hadn't believed her. Not really. Because, come on, someone wouldn't... love him love him. Even Nellie... sure she loved him, in her way, but it wasn't like how Zizzy loved Armand (or Iseabail, or everyone, practically).
"Sorry," he said, in the most sincere way he was capable of. "I've been busy gathering fear and avoiding mobs. How are you?" And now, at last, he took the time to study her appearance, and he had to say... she looked thin, a bit haggard even. Like she hadn't been eating.

"I'm fine, not that eet matters to you." She wanted to go badly, but at the same time she didn't want to leave. She'd missed him. Time spent with him was always good fun, always enjoyable. Except when it was awkward and painful (for her) like this.
"Good to 'ear you've been doing well. I imagine you can still break through the human mind. Zat's a 'uman downstairs talking to your father, by the way. He knows what's going on, so eff you want to go in and listen...."

"A real human?" His eyes widened in bafflement. For a second, he was tempted, if only because he didn't believe her, but then his attention made the loop and came back where it started.
"You're not okay," he said flatly. "You look practically sick. If you need food, you just have to ask. You have ins with two royal family members."

"Yes, a real human." She sighed and looked behind him, trying to figure out if she could fit between him at the door way. "What? Now zat I'm right infront of you, you 'ave to care but before zis I didn't mattair, right? I don't want or need your pity, I'm doing fine on my own, skinny just 'appens to be fashionable at ze moment."
She moved forward and tried to duck under his arm through the door way behind him.

"Fine," he said irritably. He moved to let her by, but then followed behind her. "Don't be such a baby," he added in a moody mutter, pushing his hands into his pocket.
