Creation:
Even the most humanoid subconscious beings differ greatly from Real World humans. The biggest difference is that most Nightmares and Dreams are born from the subconscious of a human’s brain. Nightmares can be formed by a human’s fear (like the Boogeyman) while Dreams stem from a human’s joy (like the Tooth Fairy). However, both Nightmares and Dreams can be born in the traditional sense (When a mommy Dream meets a daddy Dream and they fall in loooove…), though it is much less common. Dreams and Nightmares can interbreed, but it is frowned upon by both societies, almost as with interracial relationships in the Real World have been up until the 60’s.
Eating Habits:
Nightmares and Dreams have particular dietary needs. Dreams must feed off of Joy to survive, just as any human must live off food and water to survive. The same goes with Nightmares— they must feed off of Fear to live. A Nightmare or Dream could starve to death if kept from their respective nutritional sources. All of this Joy and Fear business is not to say that Nightmares and Dreams do not enjoy a well-prepared steak or nice juicy apple. Since most are modeled in the image of human beings, most eat ‘regular’ food regularly, as in: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. Of course, only those who can afford food can eat it, so it is sort of a luxury in the Isle of Morpheus.
Getting Around:
Transportation from the Isle of Morpheus to the human mind can be a bit tricky. The portal to the any human mind is called The Edge (the unofficial midway point). An imagined being can go directly to Real World, if they so desire, but generally The Edge is used to enter human minds. There are billions of portals swimming around the Edge, one for each human mind. Nightmares and Dreams can sense characteristics of mortal’s personality and match their abilities to their fears, and summon the portals accordingly.
