Nice, Marie. Genevieve bit down on her lip, gauging Samantha’s response out of the corner of her eye. “Yeah, I definitely don’t want him to have to go through any more trouble for my sake. He’s way too nice.” She said, mostly directing it to Samantha, just in case. She did not want Samantha on her bad side.
“Anyway,” she said, quickly changing the subject, “I wasn’t trying to put myself down, I’m just saying, many boys aren’t all too willing to brave my relatives.”

Marie wasn't quite done with David yet, however. "Well, eet's hardly fair zat both of you 'ave kissed 'im. Maybe I'll take a go at him." She winked but there was the sense that she wasn't really joking. If Sam didn't seem to like the boy more then she was letting on, Marie would've seen the fact that her two best friends had kissed him as a perfectly good reason to try it herself.
As it was, she was just trying to get Samantha to fess up. "Your family 'is pretty scary, but zey don't 'ave to know, right?"

"They have to know," Samantha said, a bit more snippily than she intended. "That's the point."
Why all this talk about David, anyway? When did he become so fascinating? The last time she checked, he was still drinking himself into Self Pity Oblivion. "And if you want to kiss him so bad, be my guest!" Her cheeks flushed a little and she sniffed indignantly. "You'd have better luck with a doorpost, but it's your time you're wasting."

“Marie,” Genn said warningly. She didn’t want her two best friends fighting; Samantha was obviously sensitive about this subject, and Marie didn’t quite know when manners dictates that she should stop teasing.
“Yeah, I mean, they kind of have to know. The point is to make my Dad mad. And, at the risk of sounding conceited, I think most people know who I am.” She flipped her hair with a grin, trying to lighten the mood. “So, who else do I have on my list of potential suitors?”

"Nonono. Eef we get you a real boyfriend, you 'ave to keep 'im away from all zis plotting. Because eef eet gets serious you don't want your family to zink of 'im as part of your rebellion, oui?"
Marie was having too much fun with Sam to take Genn's warning into account. Besides, it was all for a good, wholesome cause. The well being of her friend and her sex life. Which had apparently been pretty much non existent since David.
"Daahvid definitely, 'e seems like a sweetheart and 'e could use ze practice. And we know Mikhail's a manwhore but 'e is back in town, and who knows? Zey all need to fall in love sometime."

Samantha snorted, temporarily forgetting about David. "Mikhail would be a perfect canidate, as he wouldn't care in any way about deception, but I would hardly face him off against any of the male royalty."
She sighed and clasped Genn's hand. She recognized Genn's effort to steer around the subject. She really was the sweet friend. Charlotte, in their little "Sex and the City" group. "David may be your only option, and he might be willing if you ask him."

“I suppose you have a point, Marie, dear,” Genn said, nodding. “But, if that’s the case, I’ll have to find someone who wouldn’t care that I’m fake-seeing a bunch of other boys.”
It was surprisingly harder to construct a list of ‘maybes’ than she expected.
She frowned a bit at Samantha, “You know, I don’t know if I could date David. I think, every time that I’d look at him, I’d be overwhelmed with guilt.” Guilt for putting him through all the trauma, and guilt for getting between him and Samantha.

"You're right, men are scarce. Alexandair is already taken by some shepardess, Mikhail is taken by everyzing and everyone, David is...questionable." She sighed and flopped her head back on the arm rest. "What about you othair brothair? Ze silent one? I could do wiz a boy who doesn't talk."
It was kind of depressing to realize how glum the dating scene actually was. She'd only actually met Armand once or twice (he seemed to never be around when they were, oddly enough), but still. The Ira family was hardly known for lack of looks.
Oops, they were supposed to be boy hunting for Genn. She grinned sheepishly and shrugged her shoulders.
"We could always find a Dream. Know anyone from ze Opera, Sam?"

Samantha tried not to look too relieved. No need to feed Marie's ego.
She sighed along with her compatriots. Really, three women of their beauty and status should not have this much trouble coming up with dates.
She frowned a little. "Not....really. There aren't a lot of men. Armand and Julien of course, but Julien is taken and Armand obviously can't date Genn." Her eyes lit up, a sudden idea hitting. "Perhaps we could go somewhere--- the mall, or even..." She overlooked her distaste of the Nightmare town, "Dreamer's Hell, and merely... browse?"

“No luck, Marie. Armand’s taken, too. He brought his girlfriend to dinner the other night, too.” Genn patted Marie’s hand, pushing her lips into a sympathetic pout. “And I’m not opposed to a Dream boy, not a bit. As long as they don’t expect me to go sunbathe with them or anything.”
Genevieve kicked off her boots and tucked her feet underneath her on the couch. Even before her little rebellion, she never had to worry about acting too ladylike around these girls, it was a relief. “Yeah, I’d rather not date Armand, and Julien is just like family, even if he weren’t taken. It would be very, very strange,” she said, frowning. “It definitely should not be this hard! We’re pretty and charming. We smell good and are interesting. We have good senses of style and none of us are murderous or have any weird features, like horns or fangs or claws…though that may or may not have given us more luck with Nightmare boys…”
She clapped excitedly at Samantha’s suggestion. “Browsing! I love browsing. Maybe we just need to…expand our horizons? There is this boy who works at a produce stand in Dreamer’s Hell, I’ve seen him a few times, and he is rather cute! It’s a big place, I’m sure, between the three of us, we can find someone!”

Marie snapped her fingers in disappointment and smiled, mind taken off the lack of boys by the idea of browsing. "Eet will be fun!" She clapped her hands and then swung forward, picking up the studded underwear. "I dare you to wear zese, showing." She thrust them towards Samantha, perhaps punishing her friend a little for not telling them the truth about David.
It wasn't fair. Their friend should share things like this with them. Marie didn't appreciate being kept out.

Samantha held the underwear in front of her face, stretching the waistband (at least, that's what she thought it was) between her fingers a few times. "How will I wear it showing?" she wanted to know. "I'm wearing a dress and three layers of under clothing." She dipped her chin in a coy smirk. "Otherwise, I'm certainly not opposed. I own several pieces of lingerie myself."
And perhaps she would have told them she was still hung up on David, if she could even admit to it herself, but since she was currently in a state of semi-permanent Denial, she felt perfectly truthful.
"And Armand has a girlfriend now?" she asked, somewhat surprised. The man took introvert-ness to a new level. "The ballerinas will be so disappointed."

“Lingerie is lingerie. That thing looks like a piece of gladiator armor,” Genn said with a laugh. “You could borrow some of mine clothes. I have some jeans and stuff that I just bought in my carriage. It’ll be fun!” This Adventure in Eye Candy was going to be fun.
“Yeah,” Genevieve said, shrugging, “Most of the ballerinas didn’t have much of a chance anyway, I don’t think.” Genn could see where the surprise came from, though. Armand never even made eyes at anyone, even Genevieve would flutter her eyelashes at cute boys on occasion.
“But come on, let’s go!”

Marie stood up and nodded. "We can't take my carriage and Sam you can't pick up any man in zose clothing. I'm sorry darling, but zat age 'as past. Why you refuse to join us in modern fashion is beyond me. Eet's not like you're actually conservative."
Yes, she could be real nasty, even to the people she loved. But she was more then a little angry that her supposed best friend wouldn't share a single detail about why she was upset over this David guy.
"I 'ave ze eyes for zat new busboy at zat cafe. We'll stop zere for tea."

Samantha's nose wrinkled. Jeans...? The idea of putting some type of cowboy fabric on her skin was appalling, but judging by the look on Marie's face, and Genn's enthusiasm, she wasn't getting out of it.
And she wasn't conservative, not really. She just liked to be well put together, elegant, defined. She signed and took the jeans, and the leather underwear. She came back minutes later, dressed appropriately, though her hair was still in a bun.
"Alright, let's go."
