"Yes, but it's not going to hurt you and you won't be infected for very long." Mary's power were actually kind of fascinating for a doctor like herself, but they seemed a touchy subject for the woman.
"No, no fairy magic for now. Not until I get a new wand." She looked back over her shoulder, wondering how he could manage to see where they were going. "Once you get downtown go right on Cannibal and then take a left on Guillotine and we're pretty much there."

"Right," Nex responded to her directions, pedaling harder as they approached a hill. "Don't be so nervous. I've done this before," he assured her with a grin when she looked over her shoulder. He was a fair deal taller than her and had no problem seeing around her. He was briefly tempted to pull a stunt just to scare her, but he figured he owed her after all she was doing for him.
"What happened to your old wand?" he asked, starting to breathe a little harder as they progressed up the hill. He'd been so out of it the past month he hadn't even known Camilla had gone missing until Parquet mentioned it one day. being sick really sucked.

"Alright." But she couldn't help the white-knuckled grip as they went up the hill. He knew his way around Chimera, at least and she didn't have to show him the way as they went along. Not that she was really used to giving directions, she hardly ever traveled by foot. It was probably only her own vanity that kept her from becoming incredibly fat.
"It was snapped in half by a psychotic statue." She grumbled. If she ever saw that Diaspro again, she was going to pour acid on the woman.

"Oh. That sounds... bad," Nex said with genuine sympathy. He'd have asked what kind of statue could snap a wand, but he was quickly preoccupied with getting himself and Camilla through the right streets. As he pulled into Dreamer's Hell he had to slow down because of foot traffic. They pedaled past shop after shop selling everything from dolls to shrunken heads.
"Stop me when we get close," he huffed. Disease or not, biking all the way from Dreamland to Chimera with a passenger was not an easy feat. "What do you need from your house?" he managed to puff out. The terrain was a little more level and therefore required less effort on Nex's part.

"My not even semi finished wand. It won't have much oomph, but if we can even knock it a little loose like Jack did then perhaps you can use your own amplified powers to get rid of it." It was the whole 'use your opponents strength against them' tactic and hopefully it would work.
"I'm supposed to be working on this wand and I would prefer if Jack doesn't find out I'm not. He might take it the wrong way."
She looked around the familiar surroundings, trying to assess how close they were. Again, it was weird for her to just not poof into her apartment.
"Just beyond that block, I think."

Nex cornered sharply where she'd indicated, swerving to avoid a skeleton and lagoon monster. The lagoon monster shook it's tentacle at them as he pedaled away. Nex called out an apology over his shoulder and continued on.
"Sorry to take you away from it!" he said, feeling even more guilty about it than he had been. It was very sweet and Dream-like for Camilla to help him out. "What do you need it for so bad?" he asked before his brain connected. "Oh! I mean, aside from every fairy needing a wand, I guess." He tapped on the break, slowing up in front of a shop. "Is this it?" he asked, looking around.

She nodded and hopped gratefully off the bike; her backside was incredibly sore. She walked up to the nondescript door beside the store's display window and pulled it open, leading them up the small but neat set of wooden stairs.
"Well, long story short, I indirectly paralyzed a friend of his and he kind of wants me to fix it. He doesn't blame me but her, uhhh, actually, I'm not entirely sure what he is, her Vince? Made it kind of clear that I was to be as quick as possible."
She opened the door at the top of the stairs that lead to her flat and kicked off her shoes, moving to a large work desk that was set up awkwardly in the middle of the usually open space. It was clear this thing had been lugged out of storage. She picked up the thing that still more closely resembled a horn then a wand and sighed. Camilla still had months work ahead of her.
"Make the wish when you're ready."

"So, I just say 'I wish', right?" Nex asked somewhat rehtorically. He took a deep breath and silently said a prayer. "I wish for the foreign evil within me to be expelled," he began. He turned inward, tapping his power and when he blinked, the eyes beneath his lids turned milky white. "η μεγάλη θεά, αποβάλλει το κακό!" he called, using a fix-all repel-evil spell. Then they waited.

The wand sputtered a little when she channeled through it, it was obviously not close to ready. Expel the evil it would not, but hopefully it would do some kind of damage so his own power could finally get rid of it.
Camilla didn't understand a single word he said, but she could sense the rush of power and she had to admit it was impressive. At the very least she could understand why he might be reluctant to let go of the thing, even if it was killing him.
"Do you...feel any different?"

"Uh, no?" he said, looking around. This sensation of complete failure wasn't foreign to him by any stretch. He blinked and his eyes returned to glow-in-the-dark green. "Uh, do you by chance have chalk and a candle? Black preferably? Oh! Or we could use salt. Salt or chalk," Nex rambled, turning in a circle, then going and looking out the window. "I don't think it worked. Let's try again," he suggested optimistically.
"Moon's not full, but it'll do," he informed Camilla, turning back to her with a smile. "Second time's a charm!"

She got him the salt and actually had a black candle tucked in the back of her kitchen drawer. It had been the only kind the little shop had had and she'd wanted them in case of black outs. Camilla handed the things back to Nex and smiled.
"We'll try a few more times and if it doesn't work we can go to the King. But I'm sure you'll manage."
She hoped, really hoped he'd manage, anyways. "Anything else you need?"

"Thanks! And I think that should be it," he informed her, still high off his first attempt at a spell. He always felt energized when casting. Particularly with this thing in him. It was like taking candy coated speed that lasted for only a few moments. Or something like that...
Nex took the salt and candle from Camilla. Black! How fortunate. The Goddess was looking out for them. He found a relatively clear spot of floor and began dumping the salt out onto Camilla's hardwood flooring. He poured in a clockwise direction, forming a wide white circle. When done, he set the candle in the middle and plunked down cross legged before it. Getting comfortable, he cleared his throat and began for a second time.
“Goddess, I, your son, invite you into my Circle. I invite you to join me in my works and celebration so that I might feel your presence and You may feel my love," he recited, closing his eyes. The candle wick sprung into a tiny flame on its own. Nex opened his again white eyes. "η μεγάλη θεά, παίρνει αυτό το κακό από μέσα από και αποβάλλει το κακό!" He shouted into the room. A whoosh of air flooded the small compartment and there was a rattling sound. As was usual, he couldn't see anything while casting, but he could feel.
He felt something lift from his aura, like a clog being pulled from a pipe. Suddenly the world felt balanced again. The sound of something dropping to the floor brought him out of his trance. A white, Masquerade style mask was sitting just outside his circle on the floor. The mask would only cover a persons eyes and maybe a fraction of their nose. Nex slowly stood up. The candle went out. He bent over the mask, afraid to touch it.
"What do you think that is?" he asked in a whisper.

She watched the whole process with fascination, it was just a little bit eerie. But in a neat way. The mask on the ground frightened her a bit. "Don't touch it." She advised, going into the kitchen again and returning with a tea towel. She picked the mask up in that and wrapped it carefully as to not let any part of her touch it.
Camilla was more than sick of the trouble this thing had caused. "How're you feeling?" She asked, placing the mask on the desk and pressing two fingers to each temple, then his pulse, then a hand on his chest to check his breathing rate.

"Uh, clean." A curious word to describe his condition, but it was the only one he could think of that accurately related the sensation. "I'm going to miss the rush, though," he said with a twinge of regret, looking sideways at the dishtowel-wrapped mask. "I guess we better get rid of that," he said, quickly averting his eyes to anywhere not the mask. They finally settled on Camilla. "Thanks for you help," he said with all sincerity and feeling. He might long for the power, but for the first time in months his aura felt right and that was far more important.

"I'm glad." She answered, pulling him into a quick hug before shooting a worried glance over at the mask. "I don't really know what do to with that." She sighed and rolled her shoulders. Just one more worry onto her long, long list. Maybe she could just dump it with Jack. He'd know what to do with the thing.
"Are you hungry, thirsty?" She looked down on the mess on her floor and figured she'd have to clean up the circle of salt and now-melted onto her floor candle before getting back to work on her wand.
"I'm really glad it worked Nex."
