Frowning deeply, Mikhail stormed along the path to Samantha's cottage. From what he had heard from the gossips in Chimera, a certain someone had just had the nerve to imply that his darling friend wasn't an absolutely perfect pick, and he would simply not stand for that. What sort of person, honestly?!
His face softened as he reached his door. Oh, poor, darling Sam. What an awful thing to have happen. Letting out the smallest of sad sighs, he raised a hand, rapping lightly on the door.

((ooc; Haha, omg. <3 Mikhail.))
When Samantha opened the door, her face was schooled into an expression of indifference, her face a perfect, cold mask of dignity, save for the slight redness around her eyes and nose. But when she saw Mikhail, a friend, someone she didn't have to pretend for, her facade collapsed and she burst into reckless tears.
She choked on a noisy sob and pressed a hand to her mouth. "I'm s-sorry," she managed to get out. "C-crying even before you're in the door, p-please come in."

"Think nothing of it, darling." He cooed easily, immediately supporting her with one arm as he smoothed her hair tenderly with the opposite hand.
"Come along, come along..." He purred gently as he ushered her to the couch and sank down, bringing her with himself. He took a few moments to simply rub at her shoulders before he looked up to her face, "It's true then, darling?"

"Yes!" she snapped viciously, and then hiccuped, and her brief stint of anger faded. "Ooh, I just hate him Mikhail, I really do! Only maybe I really do like him quite a lot and that's why this... this..."
This hurts so much. She didn't even want to say it, admit the truth so openly, even to Mikhail.
She clutched onto his gentle hands as if they were lifelines, trying to regulate your breathing. "I don't know what to do. This has never happened to me before."

Mikhail gave a sympathetic nod, "Oh, darling, that's awful." He agreed, stroking her hair lovingly. He himself had never had any delusions of falling in love, though the idea was not completely foreign to him.
"Honestly, couldn't you just cut him off? You're so perfect, why settle?" He offered hopefully.

She sniffed. She was perfect, how could she forget?
But David was so...
"I don't know if I can," she said mournfully. "He's different than all the other stupid men. No offense." She looked at him imploringly. "Haven't you ever felt like that about anybody? You liked them better than anyone else, for no reason at all?"

Mikhail regarded her blankly for a few moments, "...What, like...he's better looking than anybody you've met? What does he look like?" He questioned confusedly. (How could Sam think that this dull-sounding man was better-looking than he was?!)
Then he paused for a moment, "...Wait, what did you say his name was?"
Oh dear.

She stared at him, wondering if he'd heard her correctly.
"No, I mean..." She bit her lip, struggling for the right way to explain. "It's not to say he isn't good looking, because he is, but I meant he's different because he makes me feel different, and he doesn't act like other men have toward me. And David... David Kingsbey. Why?"

Mikhail managed to keep calm for all of a second or two before letting out a laugh, "Oh, darling! Oh, good heavens. I think I made an awful pass at him in a bar." He chuckled, squeezing one of her hands lightly, "Oh, how terrible, I had no idea he was yours. Nothing happened, of course."
"But really-" He moved on easily, "There are other lovely men out there. Much more worthy of you, as well. I mean...he seems just a spot... ... ...Well, he's rather a human pity-party, isn't he? And you're so vibrant, darling..."

She blinked and then burst into laughter. Oh, it felt so good to laugh. She imagined Mikhail batting his eyelashes at poor David and the giggles flowed.
She dabbed at her eyes once her mirth had faded. She sighed, her jaw getting a determined set. "You know... he is a bit of a pity party isn't he?"
She smiled at Mikhail. "Very true. And my darling, you're always over here, comforting me and involving yourself in my troubles, but I never know what's truly going on with you. Are you alright, then? No one's come and stolen your heart yet?"

At this, Mikhail couldn't help but laugh just as heartily, "Stolen my heart?" He exclaimed, "Darling, they'd have to find it first, and apparently the word on the street is that it's a rather difficult task." He told her with a wide grin.
"Besides, love, you know you'd be the first to know if I had my claws in anything nice." He said, then, after a moment, "...He wouldn't even dance with me, you know. He just got this awful look on his face, I thought he was going to faint."

A very unladylike snort escaped her and she erupted into giggles once more. "Oh, poor David." Even as angry as she was with him.
She sighed and took his face in her hands, kissing him soundly. "Oh, Mikhail. You're simply the best, you know."

Mikhail positively purred at the affection, nuzzling his cheek against hers warmly, "Oh, darling. Of course. You know I'm simply mad about you." He replied happily.
"And really. If that pitiful load isn't just as wild for you, you might as well simply leave him off. I'm certain there are plenty of men who would be delighted if you'd even look at them. Certainly one of them could make you feel just as nice?"

She bit her lip, debating that issue.
"Yes," she admitted at last. Her brow furrowed and she nodded. "Yes," she repeated. "There are, after all, plenty of fish in the sea, and there has to be at least one meant for me. Who likes me as much as I'll like him."

Mikhail smiled warmly, smoothing her hair lovingly once more, "Of course, darling. I mean, look at you. You're perfect, you know it." He told her, kissing her shortly, "And what's the point in wasting any of your valuable time on somebody who can't see that?"
